AM radio dead in the Triangle

AM radio is in bad shape in the Golden Triangle. Current statuses -

KLVI - on air, audio quality fair
KZZB - off air
KBPO - off air
KDEI - off air
KSET - off air, periodically testing
KOLE - on air
KRCM - on air, much of the time without audio
KIKR - on air
KBED - on air, sometimes longer than legally allowed

Four out of nine off the air (or 4.5 if you count KRCM and its erratic schedule); now that's pretty lame. For the casual listener in the Triangle it has to be really frustrating, with virtually nothing of interest other than a couple of stations on AM and an FM band that has so many of the stations targeting Houston!

I did forget KOGT in Orange which is consistently on the air and not owned by a major corporation and seems to be interested in serving the community. My bad.

No problem; an oversight likely because there hasn't been much drama involved there. KOGT 1600 has always been a good little community station.
