AM Radio Survives In Eastern Washington

"'It's what listeners like': AM radio purveyors on the Palouse hope automakers heed call to keep their medium alive"

...
The irony of this article is scroll down to the bottom. Here's what's written:

"Local journalism is essential.
Give directly to The Spokesman-Review's Northwest Passages community forums series -- which helps to offset the costs of several reporter and editor positions at the newspaper -- by using the easy options below. Gifts processed in this system are not tax deductible, but are predominately used to help meet the local financial requirements needed to receive national matching-grant funds."

And for as much as nobody here wants to, nor understands what this means to radio, AM or FM, is there are unprecedented headwinds for print and radio. Enjoy that local sports talk host on the local station? Then rather than miss it when he's gone because advertising is drying up, get out your checkbook, and personally sponsor a program on your local station.
It's all well and good to sit back and consume, assuming the station is making money, then cry with outrage when it can't sustain that level of programming. In other words radio nerds; put your money where your mouth is.
