Am radios will be on during snow storms coming

Will be more AM radio listening now that the Winter Weather is on it's way. I have noticed over the years weathercasters exaggerating upcoming weather or current conditions. Not what's coming up tomorrow 1/26/15 and Tuesday. But early in winter they act like it shouldn't be so cold or windy or raining or snowing .. OMG be careful they say.. I hear it on KYW and it makes me sick.. .. You go out and the streets are just wet.. and traffic is like any other day. I noticed this trend in the 90's. Is it to sell the news and weather reports more when the temp drops or storms happen? ITS WINTER... AND IN SUMMER IT GETS HOT..AS IT ALWAY HAS.. WHY SUCH A FUSS OVER IT. IF I LISTENED TO THE WEATHER REPORTERS I'D NEVER GO ANYWHERE.
