AM reception today

Anyone else notice today any problems picking up AM stations today? I'm not just talking about WTVN, WBNS, or WTPG, but maybe picking up other stations on top of the local stations?

The sun on Wednesday unleashed one of the largest solar flares on record, and further activity could disrupt communications links and electrical power grids.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Agency, or NOAA, said the powerful flare that emerged from region 808 on the sun Wednesday afternoon rated the fourth-largest in the last 15 years. Intense radio emissions were associated with the flare.

It rated an R-4, or severe, on NOAA's space weather scale for radio blackouts.

"This event created a complete blackout of high-frequency communications on the day-lit side of Earth, which included the entire U.S. and basically anywhere the sun was shining at this time," Larry Combs, solar forecaster at the NOAA Space Environment Center, said in a prepared statement.

Nope, but I did notice last night from my workplace in Newark that the Columbus stations had exceptionally strong groundwave and distant stations weren't coming in. It was like an aurora! 610 was very strong even though Newark is east of the primary nighttime lobe and 700's groundwave was at the strength you may hear in Grove City or Circleville at night. Even WMNI was making it out there easily, so you know something was up.
Most flamethrowers, except WJR, were nonexistent.
