there are still a few am stereo recievers out there, and when I lived in Alberta, 880 am was in stereo and could be heard all over the province. The technology is there to improve how you're hearing am. Unfortunately todays receivers just have am as an afterthought and severly limit it's frequency range. I'm hoping for drm to come to Canada, you get a digital signal that sounds amazing plus you get alll the distance. Joe was a disaster in Edmonton, and chqt has never recovered. Even after the move to fm, it was still a disaster for the station. They only switched 880 over to joe to protect the 92.5 frequency, it was only going to be short time. They wanted the name and format and were going to implement it on 92.5 anyway, they just put it on the am so no other station would do it before them.
