am stations

curious about the am stations in tampa - seem like a lot of tiny, half-market crappy ones. some of them have to be drowning

trying to find more about billing, signal, and possible value for
680
760?
820
910
1010
1340/1400
1380
1590

thanks

Of all those stations, 1380 has the best combination of day nite signal and coverage. 820 has a monster day signal with 50 kw, but a lousy nite signal. 1010 has a lousy pattern that doesnt cover the metro very well. Most of the rest of them are either low power, graveyard channel, or lousy nite pattern/power. Clear Channel owns Tampa markets best AM signals. 620, 970, 1250.

I am in the florida big bend and I get Tampa Bay's AM stations up here and they are

WDAE-620-Good
WMGG-820-Good
AM-760-(comes in 50/50)
WFLA-970-Good
AM-680- (used to be Rumba 680) I dont know why they change it to Geines 680 and leave spanish hip hop/tropical to 92.5FM)

There are some other spanish am stations like 1550 and 640 I think 640 is out in Orlando if i am not mistaking...

and there no other AM station that have good spanish/tropical when RUMBA 680 made the swich to Genies 680.

760 is ND days with 10kw. decent day signal, at nite it's 1kw directly south. After dark up in the panhandle you probably hear WJR on 760 out of Detroit and WBAP out of Dallas on 820. Here in Sarasota, especially this time of year, on 680 at nite, Raleigh, NC is fighting it out with our local 680, WHO overtakes WWBA most of the time on 1040 since their nite signal is all messed up, with that fallen tower and missing ground system.

Some have been half drowning for years.... everyone wants to be everything to all... generic radio... many of these poorer signal stations might do better to go with a more specific format aimed at one particular group or another... more of a "niche" type radio...
