AM Stereo in Indiana?

While driving through Peoria IL. I had the pleasant surprise to hear AM 1290 WRIL's classic country in am stereo, with live and local dj's. AM 1490 which is N/T was also in stereo. Are their any am's in IN. that are broadcasting in am stereo? By the way, I don't care what they may say, it sounded GOOD!!

My family had a Dodge Grand Caravan with the Infinity sound system that could pick up stereo AM. We could listen listen to WLS in stereo, in Logansport, and it did sound great. Roe and Garry didn't need stereo though. They always sounded good.

Yes...WZZB 1390 Seymour,IN is AM Stereo & playing music!

If my memory serves me, I think when Mike Rice's 640 AM WBOW was still on in 2000 in Terre Haute it was broadcasting in Stereo and I can't remember if it was either an Oldies or Classic Country music format. Even though it was off the bird, and I didn't care for the music it was the best sounding AM station I had ever heard. I think his other AM 1230 (Can't remember the calls and too lazy to look it up) was not in stereo, but it just ran a simulcast of the sister 107.5 FM.

Close to the Evansville area, at one time WSON in Henderson, KY was playing AM stereo on 860. I haven't been in that area lately, but they were advertising the fact on their station IDs.

Yes, WSON is still in stereo. 1280 WGBF and 1400 WROZ (now WEOA) added stereo in the early 80's and both dropped it in the mid nineties. Across the river 1420 WVJS Owensboro was stereo from late 1986 to April 17, 1995.

For what it is worth many factory car radios still offered AM Stereo until just a few years ago.

My grandmother had one of those "K" cars from the late 80s with an AM stereo. I always enjoyed listening to what I thought was an amazing sound coming in over the AM dial. Usually it would take a second or two for the feed to click in, but once in, seemed a very stable and secure sound. HD radio? HA! What a farce!

1430 sounded great in mono when they were country. On a radio playing in a business, I still recall having to stick around to see if it was WFMS or 1430 WIRE. It was 1430...

WOWO sounded pretty good in AM Stereo too. WLS was doing it also, and with the range of both of those stations it was pretty cool to get stereo from hundreds of miles away. its a shame the Government dropped the ball on it.

If you have a reelradio.com subscription you can hear AM stereo if you search WLS 1984. AM stereo sounded great as long as the part 15 monsters were under control. WHAS is another Kentucky AM stereo signal with coverage over Indiana. They sounded amazing with a touch of reverb (Yamaha Rev7). They've been mono since the early 90's.

WRSW-AM in Warsaw was in stereo until 2001, if not mistaken. At that time they were simulcasting the FM. They dropped the stereo when they flipped to ESPN

WNDE blasted the C-quam signal over central indiana when they were still doing oldies with Kent Jones (now KOMA) at the helm and a young man named Chuck (soon to be Chick) McGee did afternoons.

I don't know if WOWO is still using AM stereo since they went HD.
Blaine or Scott F. you guys know anything???
Get Jack and Mogan (or whoever's minding the shack these days) on the phone and let the masses know!!! ;D

I don't believe it is possible to be in C-QUAM stereo and HD simultaneously.

Simple solution... Bring back C-Quam! Is one of the formats cheaper than the other for the station to operate long-term?
