am13?? clearwater

a number of years ago, i was visiting florida, and
came across this station , that you could walk
right into - it wasnt a street-front property,
(?)at least i dont recall it being that way,
But, it was along the front of a building
and it was in clear water, on the dial
at am13?? ( maybe 1350?).... it def. looked...
"small" ( not LP, or "pirate") as it had
the usual station credentials, and office setting...

any idea of this station, and if so how is it doing...
i always liked it.

You're thinking of 1340-WTAN. Their studios were near the Starbucks on the corner of Ft. Harrison and Cleveland Street in downtown Clearwater. They've since moved. The owners totally gutted a former crack house (no s**t) on Myrtle Street and put the studios there. The transmitter and tower were already there as they had to move it due to the new Memorial Causeway Bridge construction. It's "you never know what you'll hear" radio. Imus, really bad brokered talk, maybe some MOYL, maybe Spanish... anything goes on if you have the $$.

"anything goes on if you have the $$..."

That's for sure. I remember after they bought WDCF in Dade City, they sold time to the National Alliance. It created an uproar that made the Tampa bay newspapers. I think "Lola Jean The Broadcast Queen" approved this one.
