Amarillo get's Jacked! And nobody even said anthing about it....?

The new site domain is up... http://www.987jackfm.com/ - wasn't up yesterday. Goes to the same page though. This is interesting that CC has actually licensed a station for the Jack name. Up until now, they've got with their own names (96.7 Steve FM in Columbia, SC for instance)

We'll see how this pans out... or maybe Jack himself will enlighten us ;)

The playlist has been frozen for a couple of days now. Most likely from the old format. It seems the only thing Jack-related is the discolored logo.

From everything I can tell, Clear-channel plugged in the ABC JACK network, slapped on the JACK logo, and called it a day. It must have been a money loser.

I bet their Hot AC Mix94 or Cumulus's 93.1 will end up taking over as the CHR for the market.

Especially interesting also because if it was an ABC Jack, Mr. Jack Himself would have made that reference on Jack.FM. Unless he was in a rush and forgot to add the little (ABC) next to that listing. I'm very curious as to why all of a sudden CC decided to license the Jack imaging for a station when they've never done it before to any of their Variety Hits stations.

This is reminiscent of when Rawlco Communications licensed Jack for their station in Saskatchewan up north... when every other Jack in Canada was a Rogers station. Very curious move indeed on the part of CC. I hope CJ can drop in and give us some info.

Go check it out, it's there now, at the top of the page.

Also, if u go to the station's web page, it still has the Clear-channel bug.

I just checked jack.fm and the little (ABC) tag is now there. But the actual site is still frozen from its Power 98.7 days except for the really discolored and warped Jack logo on top. Goes to show that this really was a rushed move on the part of CC. It's still a very curious move. I haven't heard anything about the station being sold, but if it was to be sold, why flip the format right before? Would the Jack format somehow increase the value? Very interesting.

Sorry, I didn't get here sooner.

98.7 JACK is an ABC/JACK and the station is owned and operated by Clear Channel.

I corrected the jack.fm website with a little (ABC) next to the station information.

And the nice email is already flowing into the mailbox at the JACK mothership from Rotor City, USA. (I liked the old "Yellow Rose of Texas" slogan myself.)

(Hey, Cadillac Ranch is there...so we had to be.)
