Amarillo TIS rebroadcasts NOAA Weather Radio

Was travelling through Amarillo a couple of weeks ago, and noticed that the TXDOT is operating a TIS on 1610 that rebroadcasts the Amarillo NOAA Weather Radio station. The extended AM band is little used or not used at all in many areas. This seems to be a very good use of the extended band, especially for travellers who may be passing through the area and not have access to a weather radio. The signal seemed to be very strong across the city, and started to fade out as I headed south on 287 toward Claude.

Is anyone aware of similar stations in Texas or other areas of the country?

There was a station in Beaumont on 530 that broadcast either traffic information or the NWS weather information, depending on what is happening.
