Amazing DX Catch in Greenville!

I was around the Woodruff Rd area in Greenville early this afternoon and my radio stopped at 101.5 FM.....it was really clear for about 8 minutes, so I listened for a bit - turns out it was 101.5 Lite FM, WLYF in Miami, FL. It was very sensitive in spots and eventually faded as I went further in to town, but definately was this station as they were mentioning UV Indexes, ocean temps, etc and the commercials were all for Miami and South Florida. This is probably the most amazing catch I've ever gotten.

That's a very good catch; I might have also gotten them today. I was in Charleston, and there was a slight signal on 101.5 next to Chuck FM.

Down in the Charleston area, Florida FM's come in very frequently (at least two or three times a week). I can get Jacksonville lots of times, Gainesville, Orlando often, and on really good skip nights, I can get WPCV from Winter Haven over WCOS. I haven't gotten anything S of West Palm Beach, though.

That was a really good DX catch last week right after one of our daily lightning storms we have been having at least one everyday the clouds in the distance were still lit up with sparks. The band was open like I have never seen before, I was checking WIOP 95.9 in Charleston since it had just come on the air to see what kind of signal they had in the Elloree/Santee area. The amount of stations comming in was unbeliveable, there was a station on every spot on the dail and I could move my truck a few inches and pickup a different station on the same frequency sometimes two to three different stations and most all of them came in loud and clear. The farest one away I remember hearing was in South Dakota. If you drove down the road it was a mess with all the signals comming in but if you sat still and just moved a few inches it was hard to belive what could be heard, I have seen alot of band openings but never like that before.

The other day driving around south on 17 towards Pawleys Island, I got Mix 93.3 from Kansas City clear for a couple seconds on and off driving down the road. At first I thought it was maybe Bob 93.3 from NC and I know it wasn't z93 as it wasn't a hip hop song. Surprised it cut out those two locals for a station farther away. This happened to me last year to but on 92.5 where B 92 usually comes in song. But it was a country station all the way from Iowa I believe it was.

I did manage to pick up 98X from Charleston here in Asheville this afternoon after we've had a nasty thunderstorm. Also, Hot 98.1 in Greenville was covering up the WOXL translator on 98.1 (Which isn't hard to do).

I caught Steve-FM on 96.7 last night loud and clear. Not incredible, but interesting because I usually get another station much stronger on that frequency.

Boy I don't know if it is heat inverison or what but my little signal on the 96.3 translator is getting walked all over yet a few min ago a Man heard our website on the station looked up our number and called us to let us know he was listening on 96.3 to us in Tampa, FL, gee.
