Amazing! WBZ and others in Duluth, MN in full daylight!

1030 WBZ Boston
1150 CKOC
1190 WOWO Fort Wayne

putting in satisfactory signals in Duluth, MN (on a decent radio...that Radio Shack Superradio-like one) at 2:45 p.m.!

Several years ago, I listened to WBZ here in Central Kentucky on my car radio for a solid hour from noon to 1 PM. It was a cold January day.

How were the weather conditions at Duluth at the time? The colder the weather, the better.
Anyway, AMAZING CATCHES!!!
WBZ: 1035 miles!!!!! The best daytime DX catch I have EVER seen!!!!!! :) :)   8)
CKOC: 648 miles, not bad, kc0ltv!
WOWO: 498 miles, not bad too.

Conditions in the winter often allow this--especially around December when the days are shortest.
I've picked up WBZ several times mid day here near Chicago. I can remember a few times years ago when lots of east coast stations came in around noon. NYC's plus WHAM, WBZ, KYW just to name a few.

Thanks, crainbebo!

Also received last night in later hours with a Sony XDR-F1HD and the included loop:

Occasional audio decode on WSCR-HD, plus program information text
About two seconds of audio decode on KOA, nearly 800 miles away.

I caught a clip of the latter on video and will probably post it to Youtube.

Actually, the one that impresses me is snagging CKOC in Duluth. They don't (or aren't supposed to) throw all that much juice to the west. When I'm in Ontario, I usually lose it around London, ON daytimes. That's about 100 miles, if that.

BTW, my own personal best mid-winter daytime catches....

WWL in Moline, IL at high noon (I'm going to guess about 800 miles). WDGY in suburban Chicago. That was on 1130 when I was in high school and before WISN moved to the freq. Only about 340 miles, but (supposedly) in something of a null. I've also caught CHWO here a couple of times (about 500 miles).

Im only 200 miles from WBZ in NJ and I cant recieve it during the daytime, but I do pick it up about an hour before sunset..

I do pick up WTIC Hartford, CT during the day
