Amazon Makes SiriusXM Programming Available on Echo Devices

https://news.****************/cgi-bin/rol.exe/headline_id=n36050

SiriusXM inks a new marketing agreement with Amazon.com that bundles Amazon's line of Echo smart speakers with SiriusXM's streaming service, offering easy access to SiriusXM's programming at significant savings to consumers in the home. The first phase of the collaboration showcases offers that are available to consumers now for a limited time. It's the largest initiative to date by SiriusXM -- as part of its "Bring Us Home" campaign -- to make its programming available beyond its established base in cars.

"Music and radio have always been central to the Alexa experience and how customers engage with her every single day," said Amazon VP/Alexa Entertainment Jeff Kunins. "We're excited to work with SiriusXM to offer customers even more ways to discover and listen to the content they love - including news, comedy, live sports, music and more from SiriusXM."

SiriusXM is now reaching out to Amazon Alexa users for more ears.

When I became a subscriber to XM back in 2003, the access to the online feed of the service was free with a subscription. When it merged with Sirius, the online access was a separate subscription.

I understand the desire to compete with Pandora, iHeartRadio and other online music services, but I think that without providing some incentive for people to use their satellite service, moves like this hurt the core business of Sirius/XM

I have Sirius/XM in my car to listen so I can listen to TV audio and a handful of music channels. At home I have a TV and lots of streaming music choices. Why would I want Sirius/XM at home?
