Amber Alert on TV

I am from Pennsylvania but the terrible news of the kidnapping of a 14 year old girl and the killing of the girl's parents has some curiousity if any TV or radio stations in the eastern part of the U.S. got an Amber Alert today.

It was yesterday morning that the alert was issued for counties in central PA involving the murder of the teenage girl's parents and the kidnapping that took place in a quiet community near Lancaster. The alert later expanded into several states, including more counties in Pennsylvania, but it is now cancelled because the state police in Indiana found the two teens in a car and arrested a murderer.

The fact is that running such alerts on TV or radio is a helpful tool in finding those murderers and bringing children back to safety. It kinda reminds me of the old Tom & Jerry episode where the announcer cuts in to music "We intrerrupt this program to bring you a special news bulletin..." and he describes about a fugitive who is on the loose robbing banks. The Amber Alert however has a similiar feeling to it.

Anyway, thanks to broadcasters who informed the public about the murderer and finally he would be brought to justice.

I only recall ever seeing one of these "Amber Alerts" on TV, and it was in the form of a crawl on WNET within the past couple of months. The kid involved was safe at home, as it was all a thing to distract the police away from her attempted bank robbery on Long Island.
Like weather alerts, its just another thing that people are going to ignore.<P ID="signature">______________

I don't know about anyone else, but we run them with a crawl at the bottom of the screen much like a weather crawl. (In fact, it's done with the same computer since it's the easiest one to use to make a crawl). Of course, we also mention it with-in our newscasts.
