Amber alert:why not ch.6,12

I don't think things went well but who to blame, apparently the state police? The only RI station to air the alert for a kidnapped boy, was NBC 10. Why not the other two stations?

Something definitely went wrong. From what I understand... the State Police had to call channel 10 directly to tell them about the Alert. Perhaps the State Police did not call WPRI and WLNE. That would not make sense though, so maybe WPRI and WLNE are are also to blame for not following up on the phone call. I personally think that a number of people dropped the ball on this one. Hopefully it won't happen again. People ARE paying attention. So everyone from the State Police to local Radio and TV stations better get their ass in line.

A conference call was held today. The devices did not work properly and channel 10 got a phone call from State police that 6 and 11 did not get. Lots of angry folks upset about the favoritism.

WJAR-10 dominates local news in Providence, attracting almost as many viewers
for it's local newscasts than channels 6 and 12 combined.

The State Police officer may have thought that given WJAR's dominance in local news, all he/she had to do was call WJAR's newsroom, and everyone would hear about the Amber Alert.

All do respect you are full something. The numbers are great and when you combine WPRI and WNAC's 10 and 11pm numbers they beat JAR at 11pm in the demos by almost two rating points in the main demos.

That may have been the old story, but not anymore. Channel 10 cannot beat 6 and 12 combined at 11pm.

I will also add that while I can't stand 12 they are pushing the once dominant 10 out the door. Their 10 pm newscast is one point away from beating 10's 11 pm newscast. 10 is way down at 11 and this news station definitely is in trouble. The entire rebranding has gone terrible as well. Some graphics and reporters say NBC 10 while other say newschannel 10, I say pick one and stick with it. Meanwhile ABC 6 is up at 6, but almost non existant at 11. I guess improvement in one newscast is half the battle.
