AMC's The Walking Dead

So they put the wraps on the 1st season on Sunday...

13 more episodes have been ordered, but we have to wait until October! :(

Your thoughts/comments/opinions on the show? And predictions for the coming season...

I am a big fan of the zombie genre, so I would probably like the series regardless... however aside from all that I think it is one of the best shows i have seen in a long LONG time. Kind of bummed that they let the writing staff go though... ::) I mean "If it ain't broke..." ???

Can you post a link to an article for this? I haven't heard about them letting the writing staff go... hmm...
Haven't seen the season final yet, but will watch it later on this week. Love the show, and can't wait for season 2. As a person who lives in Atlanta, it's funny seeing how they change the city for show.

*SPOILER ALERT* Esp., the last 2 epsiodes when they went to the CDC in Downtown Atlanta, first off, the CDC isn't in Downtown Atlanta, and second, the place they went to is not even in Atlanta, but 12 miles Northeast in Cobb County (it's the Cobb Engery Performing Arts Center.) Amazing what they can do with now adays. As Ed Wood would say: "What do you know? Haven't you heard of suspension of disbelief?" *End of Spoiler Alert, We Now Continue With Our Regular Scheduled Post*

The Atlanta metro area probably doesn't get into TV dramas much, so I can understand your disbelief. But as a person who grew up in LA, and has lived in San Francisco for many years, I'm used to seeing scenes that do not track with my knowledge of local geography. The chase scene in the film Bullitt is the most obvious example - Steve McQueen speeds in his Mustang down the windy road on Twin Peaks - he turns the corner, the camera cuts, and he ends up in a neighborhood 5 miles away. There's no way he could have gotten there so fast unless Captain Kirk visited from Star Trek and "beamed" him there.

There are hundreds of other examples in movies, and on TV shows like Streets of San Francisco, and Nash Bridges.
What's really irritating is when I see a scene that supposedly takes place in San Francisco, but I recognize a landmark from LA or Vancouver.

It's called "fiction" for a reason.

Around 2000 or so, USA Network ran a short-lived adaptation of the British police drama Touching Evil(starring Jeffrey Donovan, now of Burn Notice) This adaptation was filmed in Vancouver, yet for some reason, the show was set in San Francisco...although the writers made no effort to mention actual streets or place names in the Bay Area. Not sure what the point was!
