AMERICAN BOY BY ESTELLE & KANYE WEST???

Natasha bedingfield soundalike "Estelle" has a hit with Kanye West "American Boy". I think he's the FURTHEST from someone who should have sang on this one. As racist as he is & how he hates his country he shouldn't be able to brofit from hypocracy. Nelly would've been a better pick even.

I prefer the mix that the Dance stations play, it doesnt have Kanye on vocals, just Estelle all alone. This song did pretty well for us at CHR this summer, its getting ready to be in recurrent status now though.

He throws a tantrum & cries racism whenever he doesn't get his way/award. Plus he can get away with singing about a "poor white girl"...if the tables were turned & say for example Jason Mraz sang about a "poor black girl" he'd be called "racist". ::)

Freedom of Speech . Also Freedom to protest or non-protest of what had been said. J-Lo used the N-word, alot of people get mad. Fat Joe used the N-word, no one care's . J-Lo and Fat Joe are Hispanic Americans from The Bronx NY(NYC).

The idea that she sounds like Natasha Bedingfield is rediculous. This thread just gets worse from there.
It's a very catchy song, IMHO.

As far as I'm concerned any rapper who calls himself or his own kind "Niggaz" and rips on women & other races should get no airplay, even if edited. There's a fine line between freedom of speech and just plain out saying "I'm a thug" like Trick Daddy.

She sounds like Natasha sounds on Pocket Full of Sunshine. Same accent.

Same accent? It's like camparing Mariah Carey to Jessica Simpson. I hope you're not comparing them just because they're both from the UK. They are actually very different.

This is actually a huge hit overseas, Estelle is from the UK and this song has a cool euro/garage vibe. Glad it's finally caught on here, albeit in usual American fashion months after everyone else. ::)

We were playing it in January,, and were mainstream CHR... I may not like Kanye's attitude, but if he wasnt on this track, I dont think many if any US stations would play it... The song is essentially more of a UK Dance-House track than a Rap Song.... Most Dance stations play a slightly speeded up version without Kanye's vocals, but didnt start playing it until the original caught fire on Chr and Rhythmic radio.
