Hi...some of you have sent me tapes from WLS Chicago and other top 40 stations during the 60's and 70's...i noticed that some of these stations would broadcast the news from the American Contemporary News network...does anyone know when it stopped and were there other news networks in the country at that time?

I'm not an expert but I think American Contemporary News was a service to rock stations from ABC during those times. Of course, there was also CBS, Mutual and NBC Radio news at the time. Again, I'm not the expert but you might be able to find more info at reelradio.com I remember reading some comentary about ACN on there but not sure exactly where. Maybe do a search on the reelradio site???

American Contemporary News was very authoritative sounding wasn't it.

I liked the intro to their newscasts...it had a music intro that was catchy.
