American Hot Wax

Does anyone know why American Hot Wax has not been released on DVD? I've been waiting forever and each year passes and still nothing. Very odd. What a great movie.

The reason it is not out on DVD is because it did badly at the box office in its initial release and there is little interest in this movie from the general public with the exception of radio geeks.

Not just "radio geeks." While I remember the film being a stiff at the box office, I also remember it featuring great concert performances from Rock & Roll pioneers Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis. And let's not forget, big screen debuts by a couple of Hollywood "newcomers," Fran Drescher and Jay Leno. Lorraine Newman of SNL was also in the flick. It has been released, it's just no longer in print. Do a google search on it and I'm sure you'll find someone still selling it.

If you do a search on Ebay, I found 3 copies up for sale. They are out there.

Regardless that it was a box office disappointment, it was still a great movie. I am not a "radio geek" and I loved it. I wish I had a dollar for every movie that was a box office flop that is currently available on a licensed DVD. I am thinking there must be some other reason for it never having been out on DVD. I've found out of print VHS copies.

Most of the American Hot Wax DVD's on Ebay are DVD-R bootlegs transferred from VHS.
