sometimes the fastest runner doesn't win... to my amazement Joshua Ledet, was kicked off the show tonight. if you have been watching, Incredible Talent! appearantly Tone Deaf audience. my 2 cents.

If you think it's bad now, consider what might likely happen on next week's championship round if Phillip Phillips defeats Jessica Sanchez to become the 5th consecutive WGWG [white guy with guitar] to win Idol.

I think they should give the judges more power to counteract the vote-stuffing for the WGWG contestants. Extend that "judge's save" concept to every results show episode. Then, for the finale, the judges are each given a certain number of points to allocate to the finalists, combined with percentage points of viewer votes, to determine the winner.

There is a website called Vote For The Worst that encourages people to vote for the worst possible contestants on those reality competition series where home viewers decide who advances or who wins.

They have been literally gung-ho for Phillip Phillips the last several weeks.

Their homepage is at http://www.votefortheworst.com .

According to American Idols past the best signer does not win. Ruben over Clay, Jennifer Hudson getting eliminated before final and many others.

Call-in voting is the problem. Idol's producers refuse to upgrade, either to a phone system that allows only one voter per ph# (yes, they can do that now) while blocking calls from unlisted numbers, or to exclusive on-line voting. Votes cast on the internet would register the same identification data used by on-line pollsters to prevent multiple entries. A more drastic measure would be to suspend outside participation altogether, allowing only the studio audience to vote.

Until this problem is corrected, voting results will continue being tainted by clowns at home calling in 10, 20 or more votes in one evening. Such offenders tend to vote for the most "popular" contestant, while statistically squeezing out of contention the truly "talented" performers.

"Votes cast on the internet would register the same identification data used by on-line pollsters to prevent multiple entries."

Doesn't mean squat. Assuming it's an "anonymous" vote (meaning one doesn't have to register with the site first), a cookie-based session can always be reset by trashing one's browser cache (F.Y.I., a good habit to get into anyways!) Even IP-tracked sessions can pretty easily be worked around by simply resetting one's transceiver, if one is fortunate enough to be on a system that uses dynamic IP addressing like I am.

Pencil-pushers who think multiple votes can actually be prevented are obviously pretty far separated from reality.

Young men used to have wrasslin'.
Now the young womenfolk have their American Idol.
It's not really so much 'talent competition' as it is 'interactive entertainment show.'
Anyone can call 50x if they care that much. Apparently, some people care that much.
And it comes on so often and regularly (and radio hosts are lazy at show prep) that it can be a topic for morning zoos everywhere....

Idol does online voting now through their website (using Facebook logins) and it's quite easy. My view: Phillip Phillips has been the best all season. Joshua and Jessica have been great too. This finale is no surprise and will be a great one to watch.

I don't listen to radio morning zoos but I do watch a piece of a TV morning show on my local Fox O&O each weekday morning and I tend to hit the off button when they begin self-promoting AI.

All good points, Darth, but exploiting the complex layer of contingencies you've envisioned hardly seems likely to happen. Multi-call perps are mostly just kids, most (though not all) of whom are too young and/or computer-skills-challenged for such grandoise, clandestine adventures. Most wouldn't know IP from I-POOP.

PS I am not a pencil-pusher.

Yes it is rather obvious Vote For The Worst MUST BE at Work here, Phillip Phillips doesn't have a FRACTION of the Talent Joshua or Jessica has. the Grotesque "Fakey" FACES he makes while ATTEMPTING to sing make me want to puke. IF he happens to win, I'm through with AI. SO if vote for the worst is trying to drive viewers away, they will have done what they set out to do. phillip phillips would make a Great act at The Holiday Inn Lounge in Wheeling West Virginia.

The ONLY vote that counts is what happens at the checkout line, itunes and whatnot. True talent will come out, and will have real staying power.

Wow. Guys, it's a TV show. Geez. Seriously, I like Phillip Phillips. So do most of my friends. I think the general comment I've heard from friends is that this is the most-talented top 10 ever. Watch or don't watch, but don't throw out these silly "if he wins I'm through" comments. It's not going to impact the outcome. The producers don't sit and watch these boards thinking "oh gosh, he said he'd quit watching of Phillip won.. we better make sure Jessica wins" It just doesn't work that way. The votes of the public really do matter. If you want Jessica to win, go vote for her.

i know it's just another Reality-talent TV show, and i'm sure the producers could care less if i and others do not watch it in the future. all i'm saying IS if someone invests several weeks watching this stupid show, one might expect that THE BEST talent will boil down to the BEST TWO people, with phillip phillips it didn't happen for me. there was better talent in the top 25 that were eliminated than him. i think the judges should have a LARGER role when it gets down to the top 10, becasue the "People" including the vote for the worst crowd are screwing with the results, and i think when you saw joshua ledet getting kicked off in favor of phillip phillips, the judges were in shock, ledet got more standing O's than anybody this season. just sayin'.....

Yes, he does look like he could be a 'victim' in a mock disaster when he sings. Also, according to some of you, he should probably be headlining at MOTEL 6-and should turn out the light to boot.

This has been a talent-laden lineup this year. If Joshua Ledet is 'better,' the cash registers will confirm that.

IT PROBABLY WILL... WHERE CAN I BUY TICKETS TO HEAR HIM SING or buy a copy of his version of James Brown's "Its a Man's World".. Totally AWESOME..

For a second, I thought this thread was created the year Taylor Hicks was in the finals... :p
