American Sports Network is reportedly ceasing operations

From FTVLive:

More Sacked At Sinclair

Sinclair will cease operations of the fledgling sports operation at the end of the month resulting in many questions around the national sub-channel as well as their local sports coverage on Sinclair stations. Newsroom, production and master control teams will all be impacted.

I enjoyed their coverage of NCAA D1 mid-major basketball and FCS football matchups.

they just bought out the Tennis Channel so i expect they are shutting it down to move all the sports coverage they have on there as part of a lunch of a new 24/7 sports channel on that channel.

but they could just either sell their sports rights to Fox Sports for the FSN RSNs and FS1 & FS2, Root Sports/AT&T Sports Network, or NBC Sports for NBCSN or NBC CSN RSNs or take the rights to the

The article says Campus Insiders would take up most of ASN's rights. Sinclair just made a big addition to its tennis holdings, so it would be odd for it to convert Tennis Channel to a general sports network at this point, and it wouldn't do nearly enough to overcome the obstacles to getting sports rights anyone cares about.

Yes, I too really enjoyed this channel.

There is a market for free OTA sports programming.

My local station just bumped GetTV in favor of TBD.
My guess is GetTV will come back and replace ASN when this happens.

ASN was on CW7 only really watched it for WMU football when Michigan or MSU wasn't on TV they always had delay in basketball on Wed's came on at 10:30PM. WXSP had ACC Football for the last couple of years surprise they don't air ACC basketball on the weekends I think it was to compete with CW7 & ASN. Feel sorry for those that are losing there jobs.
