American Top 40 in North Carolina

A question about the world's greatest countdown show - what stations in North Carolina carried the show during the original era with Casey Kasem (1970-1988)? I do remember listening to both of Casey's Westwood One AC countdowns (Casey's Countdown and Casey Hot 20) on Mix 101.5 in the mid '90s, but was the AT40 affilliate either WKIX or G105?

All I remember is WBT in Charlotte.

I remember my Sunday School teacher would listen to it on the way to church. Supposedly Sunday School started at 10 but he'd arrive at maybe 10:20. With no prepared lesson.

I was young but remember listening to AT 40 in Winston Salem I believe on WAIR, AM 1340, in the early 70's. Then I believe later on WSEZ, 93.1, in the later 70's into the 80's. I loved the show and listened to it as much as possible.

outside of the triad or the triangle, but WLWL Rockingham did. I was the board op for a while, 72-73ish

The first American Top 40 programs in 1970 were aired in the Raleigh-Durham market by WRNC.

::) Who cares..Is someone running it now? That would be a "hoot"

Is this version similar to what I've heard recently on Y102.9 on Saturday mornings?

Those are the 1970s replays that you heard. Y102.9 airs AT40: The 70s weekends from 9am-Noon.

Personally I think Casey sounds like he's 80. Sounds awful. I wouldn't have put that show on. It airs on WMJI/Cleveland now as well. Just a terrible sounding show.

Casey was in his 40s when he hosted the AT 40 shows from the 70s.
Who cares what he sounds like now?

Chuck, if you don't like the 70s AT40, it's because your "weren't there".

Our listeners (Y102.9) love it!
