Americas Radio News

It is great to hear the makings of an all news network. I am sure several AM operators will pick it up.A solid programmer will be able to supplement the network feed with local news and sports,
Plus I would program a local morning and afternoon drive news blocks.

With that said I propose making some changes even though the network has only been on line for two days. The bumper music is very cheezy. Plus the anchors have the same stye as the dual hosts of HLN's 'Showbiz Tonight.' Also drop the 'Entertainment Tonight" voice overs.

I wish the network the best but the PD is off its mark a bit.

Their launch segment is noon to 3pm, which is prime time for syndicated talk? Questionable move, unless their plan is to work out the bugs before anybody starts to carry them. Is anybody carrying them?

NBC
AP
CNN
These are the people that have tried to do an all news network before. Any reason to think this bunch will be more successful? Are they doing anything different?

I suspect they're doing it on the cheap, while NBC and AP put quite a few resources into their long-form news. CNN was mostly TV audio. Afternoon drive might have been a better segment to try than noon to 3pm.

It might work if local stations use it as a resource within a local block. If they just run the satellite feed, it won't.

TRN is very much positioning this thing as a "safe buy", more advertiser friendly than controversial talk radio shows.

In fact, they have used the "A Safe Buy" phrase in some of their online trade site advertising for it.

It certainly sounds non-offensive enough. I kind of like the energy level of the anchors, at least in the 5 minutes that I listened to it.

I hope most folks don't confuse it with TRN's political-oriented morning show, "America's Morning News."
