Amish Paradise by Weird Al played on the End

Here's my question to all of you that are so outraged by this song being played, How is this any different that the millions of comments and parodys that poke fun at someone elses pain and suffering??? I think that that song is a great song and more than likely 80% of the people listening that day had no clue what had happened. They heard the song and either thought it sucked or thought that it was cool. At least that is what I am getting from those that I have talked to since then that actually heard it on the air. The great thing about owning a radio is there is multiple channels in which to tune in to. In no way can this be seen as even a punishable act. Maybe a questionable programming decision because he did have to break format to play it, but that is it. I bet you if you sampled a group of P1 listeners to KNDD and asked them what they thought about the song, not giving them any info about what happened in PA, most, if not all, won't make the connection. I think that it is sad what has happened, and my prayers go out to all those affected this past couple weeks, but come on people. Lazlo is doing a great job at KNDD and this does nothing to tarnish what he has done there.

Just so I get some sense of where the boundaries are:

- playing a song that makes fun of school murders JUST TO GET A HA-HA REACTION FOR THE JOCK is ok
- showing Janet Jackson nipple for less than a couple seconds is out of the question and considered "indecent"

Could use some enlightenment as THIS doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. But not entirely new as no one freaks about violence in movies/on television but we get worked up if there's a sex scene that may get a kid asking some questions.

Honestly I think it just comes down to the the ammount of exposure that something gets. You're comparing a halftime show seen by hundreds of millions of people to a station with lousy ratings and a midday jock just trying to get attention after being canned from mornings. Obviously what DJ No Name did was wrong, but the truth is not enough people heard it, which in turn leaves fewer people to complain about it.

What gets me is how a jock in St. Louis can get canned for a verbal slip-up while talking about Condoleeza Rice and then make it a point to apologize right away, yet someone who goes out of his way to be tasteless just to get attention only gets a slap on the wrist.

The playing of Amish Paradise was limited to Seattle airwaves. Entercom didn't have the full weight of the FCC, the PTC and the religious right falling down upon them simultaneously from a broadcast around the world.

There's nothing the FCC can do about this. They didn't violate any rules. I think you people try too hard to be offended. I doubt any Amish people were offended by it...considering they would have to own a radio to hear it in the first place.
