AMN

I've been getting a variety of stories on the sale of various stations in the Allegheney Mountain Network. Today, I read a blog from a former co-worker that seems to confirm this and much more.
Well, a lot went down at work today. So, I am definitely looking for a new job, so HELP ME PEOPLE! We have had a suspician that the Allegheny Mountain Network was for sale, all the stations. Well, we called the stations lawyer in Washington DC and found out the the whole network is for sale. Including WKBI where I work.
So, anyone want to buy a network?

What many of us have found since consolidation came along is that new owners rarely go through the place whacking employees. Lots of times the new owners are better than the old ones, even if the old ones were just fine. And with all due respect to your friend at WKBI, I'd recommend resting easy. It's not exactly as though a new company would have tons of prospective replacements clamoring for a chance to live and work in Elk County. He/she is probably safe as long as he/she wants to keep showing up at work.

Let's be realistic. The AMN is not for sale!!!!!Pay attention, I am in the know.
I'm willing to accept that. However, people that I know who have had first-hand involvement with the situation have corroberated the story as recently as yesterday. I can believe it may not be for sale "to the public", but I have suspicions that there will be at least an ownership change in the days ahead.

ErikE-mail me your source.I guarantee you that my source is better than yours. My source is named John Frederick. Doesn't get any more inside than that.Harlow

I'm not getting into a contest over who's "source" is better than another. As to how "inside" John Frederick is, to me, is irrelevant. If he is, then he is. I first read about this from a former co-worker. I don't have your email address to send you what I do have.

Someone who works at WKBI is a decent source. Someone who owns WKBI is a better one.Don't go reporting that the stations are for sale before you talk to someone who owns them.Erik, be responsible. You could have called Ted in State College or Cary in Tyrone and got the truthful answer. Ted's name is John Frederick Simpson.Try being responsible about what you report. Rumors of sale only hurt people if they are not true.

Erik,Again the best bet is to call the Simpsons, who own the AMN and not take the word from a blog.I guess we don't understand the idea of journalism.Read the blog of a disgruntled jock or talk to the owner. Which one is more fact based?

We're not talking Dan Rather here...and in 9 out of 10 cases, the more an owner denies selling, the more he is selling. I guess you think if someone is considering a sale, he's going to discuss it with you and show you his P&L?

Considering I basically grew up in the house, I would get a straight answer.Ted is like a brother to me and Cary is like a second father. If the whole network was getting sold, I would have been told by Ted.

Let's all face it here, what Erik did was take a blog that someone had posted and put it on the board thinking he had first hand info. The question is did the person who posted that blog really want it put on this board, I doubt it and second how many times have we heard it was for sale in the past. Besides I think I heard a rumor that a certain radio company was offering 6.5 million for GMR alone. Then again it is just that a RUMOR!!!!!!!!!

Now see that is funny :D I worked in the AMN for 7 almost 8 years and I heard everyday that there was an option to buy the station or the network, DAILY!!!!! Nothing new that hasn't been posted or heard several THOUSAND times already. I'm with Harlow, if the network is for sale I would have been told that by the owner when I talked to him the other day. Erik, Zack's information is not correct and therefore should not have been posted without consulting at least 2-3 people first. For example:If you were in the best shape of your life and the doctor told you that you only had 2 weeks to live, would you just take his word or would you get a second opinion?I personally would choose the last option myself.

What I did was refer to a blog that was published on a public "virtual community" website where anyone could access it freely...and it was first-hand info from **that person**. I know that blogs are not bona-fide sources but are often used for expression...just as how this board is used, IMHO. I consider what is found here just as "credible" as what is posted on blogs. But this board can serve as a "barometer" to what is happening within the industry, too. And it is a place to flush out rumor from facts. That is how I view it, but if others feel it has a more puristic value to it, please accept my apologies.Ted, go for it! Better you than a "Clear Channel" to swoop down and carbonize another locally-owned market.
