amp 94.7 DC in 2010 ?

Could it be

cbs has reserved the calls WAID im thinking that could stand for amp 94.7
why would cbs put the waid calls on fresh ???

Cause if this country does not take effective measures to reduce carbon emissions , we will be WAID'ing in the streets of what was once DC.

I read it was WIAD not WAID but either way I hope they do go Amp or something and DO NOT put the WHFS calls on 94.7 Bethesda. But then I've been hoping for WHFS on an FM main signal that reaches me like 99.1 did for 5 years now. I still think they should have tweaked the Classic/Active format and remained positioned against DC101 which is not actually Alternative as they claim to be. 94.7 is a good signal for the DC/Southern MD, and parts of NOVA I imagine, and CBS could have a strong station if they'd stop making mediocre decisions. Taking HFS off that secondary channel would be smart too but it needs its old coverage area.As for Amp or any other brand that uses an automated playlist CBS needs to realize that anyone can put songs on a list! Give the listeners a DJ who knows the music and backstory and adds personality to the station. WHFS played awesome music but the DJs and thier little quirks is what made it irreplaceable and addictive.

Okay, Im really confused. 94.7 just switched to the Fresh-FM format not too long ago, why would CBS be changing that format again in less than a year? Are the ratings bad? Also, what about 955 PGC, are they not in danger of being booted and changed to 955 AMP Radio? Either way, I think it may be WIAD (Washington is AMPED), as their is already an WAID-FM. An what does WHFS have to do with this? That is what's really confusing me.

HFS2 is on 94.7 WTGB's HD2 channel.Typing WHFS.com takes you to the HFS2 site even though WHFS is now an AM station. There were hints of CBS putting the WHFS calls on 94.7 because the other "Fresh" stations have "FS" in thier calls. I have no idea why CBS would flip the nearly new Fresh format so soon but we're talking about CBS here. I thought WTGB's numbers went UP after the female oriented format was established but maybe numbers aren't what CBS is concerned with. This seems obvious as they continue to drag WTGB and WJFK thru the mud,WPGC was 'threatened' with a format flip last spring and the solution was to replace Donnie Simpson with Donnie Simpson (?!??) and 99.1 El Zol has been in a steady slide down in ratings yet never has a whisper of a change been mentioned about it. I find it hilarious that the Spanish workers on the job now listen to WPOC rather than El Zol but CBS remains clueless to this. I don't know what having an Amped station in DC will do to WPGC but I thought that was PGC's turf musically. I am a mere radio listener,or was, so maybe I don't have a clue about radio at all. Maybe listening to FM since 1976 while being bombarded with commercials and occasionally buying products due to that particular stations sponsors leaves me entirely ignorant as to radio. Maybe CBS puts objects with call letters and ideas on a poster and the one a monkey slings crap on wins. Maybe they let thier toddlers pick it. Maybe they put slips of paper in a piniata. If you're confused don't feel alone. I assumed radio was a business that required listeners to be a success.

Its official, today 94.7 is under WIAD. Does anyone think this really will turn into a 94.7 Amp Radio for DC? Or 94.7 Now FM?

I don't know if anyone's mentioned this, but the calls WIAD look suspiciously like a nod to Dulles - airport code IAD.

What about 99.1 El Zol? They might be a victim of a format change since they're #20 in the market. I know for a fact WJFK ain't changing since they flipped to Sports and the "flip" to CHR was a prank.

There has been an interesting lack of mention about El Zol even though it ranks lower most times than other CBS-DC stations. It has been in the slot WHFS was in when it got flipped more than once yet no whisper of it changing. Common sense would have El Zol on 106.7 where it would reach the more Spanish listeners than in northern DC and half of Maryland. HFS2 on 94.7 HD2 has now dropped the "2" and is ID'ing as HFS....like the old days...makes me wonder

^^^^ Does that mean that there is even more of a chance at seeing an AMP'd format in DC?

I really don't think CBS will flip PGC simply due to the backlash they'd get in the African American community if they did, bad ratings or not! A major tweaking would be approiate though. I'd be interested to know what everytone thinks about PGC's fall from the top. Was Arbitron(with the diaries) that screwed up in DC or is the fact that it's easier for that audience (heavy on young males) found it easier to remember what their favorite station was as opposed remembering to wear the (un-cool looking) PPM box? PGC seemed like one of the un-touchable stations in the country, almost DC's radio station, not because of format, but because they are the DC community!

94.7 is a good choice for CHR! That Fresh format sounds so flat. And so much of that late 90's pop/rock stuff is so stale,(I can't believe Eagle Eye Cherry comes back in any music test as a favorite)! I fell in love with CHR radio in 1986 when DC had 3 CHR's and was heart broken for the format and the city when between 1992 and 1996 there was NO CHR on in DC at all. CHR on 94.7 would have to compete with a now 6 share Hot 995. But in LA AMP is doing it aginist the heritage KISS, so who knows? We shall see....

Donnie Simpson leaving IMO is not a good sign for PGC.

If CBS was flipping 95.5 to AMP, why would they offer him a party in March?
I wouldn't read too much into that. When KLSX 97.1 went off the air here in L.A., there was still a whole schedule of events that KLSX was supposed to do (Leykis Birthday Bash, Carolla broadcasting from Vegas, etc.)

I might be late on this, but i came across www.955now.com being registered. CBS is using the "NOW" and "AMP" brands on the new CHR/Pop stations they're launching. Well, the who is info is "supposedly" linked to [email protected] created on 12/16/2009. :D LOL, wow what a prank!!!

That is just so wrong. And I love the Kane Show, but if I had to pick and choose Id definitely go listen to PGC over Hot 99.5. Why Kane?? Why? Lol. Like I said, it'd be stupid now for CBS to get rid of its Urban... why take a chance with a CHR and a AC when you can just scrap the AC and have a Urban and a CHR. Thats obviously the better scenario. I mean, 97.1 Wash FM (is that what its called?) stomps all over 94.7 Fresh fm. But a 94.7 Amp Radio that leans more rhythmic than Hot 99.5 and adds songs much faster can KILL Hot.
