AMP-FM already cumeing over 2 million!

The PPM is very kind to AMP. After only six weeks on the air, they are already cumeing over 2 million listeners a week-about half what KIIS does. If they can grow that much that fast, what does that say about KIIS? Perhaps people are getting tired of them? Now that there's an alternative they don't need KIIS any more?

I guess we'll see soon enough.

The figures do not reflect after 6 weeks on the air. They are the second week of March when AMP was into 10,000 songs commercial free in a row without any on-air personalities.

What - 6 weeks?!!? Geez!!!

Where is the time going? When I was 12, six weeks was eternity! Amp just started... well, YESTERDAY!
Well, at the rate time is passing, I bet we really will see, SOON enough.

I'm not sure how this station is doing overall, but if you have any kids, you know that among the under 12 set "the 97.1 station" has joined Hannah Montana, the Jonas Brothers, etc. in the pantheon of cool.

How is the reception of AMP 97.1 in Inland Empire ie. Riverside/San Bernadino? According to FCC database their signal is null towards the east.

It can be heard, but not the best of the Wilson signals... but since the IE is not part of the LA metro for radio, it really does not matter.

KLSX had over a 2 share in the last weekly, 18-34, in the IE, and KIIS, usually a 6.0 to 6.5 range performer, is below a 4 share. That is certainly an indication that it can be heard (KIIS is not directional, but is lower powered).

It's marginal in many places in the IE such as along the 210 near Rancho Cucamonga and while many LA stations can be heard clearly like KIIS.

Even thought it doesn't matter ratings wise, it is interesting that near Wrightwood, 97.1 completely fades out into 97.1 from Las Vegas, which is over 250 miles away!

Actually, KIIS is licensed as (slightly) directional.

Thanks for pointing that out. When I looked at maps, I just thought I was seeing the effects of the mounting structure. The license indeed shows minimal directionality on about 25°.

That's 250 highway miles. Not sure how far as the crow flies. KXPTs stick is on top of Mt. Potosi 8500 feet above sea level / 3700 feet above average terrain. So up near Wrightwood, you have a pretty clear shot of Potosi. I've heard Potosi all the way in Palm Springs!

Here's a link http://www.fybush.com/sites/2006/site-061110.html to a site, that details a visit to Potosi, the true geeks may find interesting

I've noticed something when I'm listening to Jack in my car. Sometimes the display will say " AMP Jack FM. I've seen this a couple of times. I wonder why this is happening.
