Amp Mentions KIIS in Promo

I heard this promo tonight. "If you want to know how to save $100 on your auto insurance listen to KIIS. If you want 10,000 songs in a row Ampradio 97.1."

"Hey KIIS, can you pay our bills becasue we aren't playing any commercials".

I just heard that one. Was a little funny. But I wonder if KIIS will help out and welcome the new station to the market. lol

This sounds like old skool radio, before you heard promos for KOST on KBIG. I remember KROQ trashing Dees in alot of Kevin n Bean promos back in the mid to late 90's. I think this is a step in the right direction, actual competition for the same demo.

Just heard one saying Over at KIIS their playing commericals while AMP is playing 10,000 songs in a row. I think AMP forgot once they get out of the 10,000 songs they will play commericals. Would be nice if they could be like the HD channel and just play music.

I had a feeling someone was going to bring this up. You must remember, many people cannot (or choose not to) see the long run of things and don't think outside the box. Whoever designed that commercial on Amp knows this, so they know by the time all those songs are up and done with, most people may not even remember the promo by the time the commercials kick in, and those hearing the promo now are not really thinking about what the station will sound like in the future. Many people think only in the NOW, and as far as Amp knows, this promo is helping them NOW as a result. Amp is being smart by using now as much as they can as a benefit for the long run of things. In other words, you think if people get hooked on Amp, then they start easing in commercials, they'll get fed up and change to another station that they know is also playing commercials? The only way to "reverse this hook" is if the other station(s) begin to do the thing that Amp did to get people hooked. ..Ok I'm done with my psychological leaning radio talk.

Maybe AMP will play less commericals. They could do something on weekends. It seems faster when the radio station says back in 3 mins or less. Not sure if another radio station in LA does that.

The Nova (CHR) radio network here in Australia, operated by DMG, has an across the board policy of no more than 2 spots in a row. They average about 10-12 spots an hour. They are able to charge higher rates for this.

I wouldn't count on it. It seems to me that CBS stations always play more commericals (whether it's really true or just an illusion). When I flip to Jack or KROQ, chances are they are on commericals.

Now in NYC is also mentioning Z100 like AMP with KIIS.

After listening to the first hour of Now, I prefer the imaging on AMP (not that it is that much different but AMP is quicker as it should be). The Z100 piece they ran during the first 15 minutes went nowhere and was just too long. Way too inside. They don't need listener testimonials yet in NYC either which they ran during the first hour.

I thought the Z100 piece was smart. It was actually a send-up of the Apple MAC vs PC ad.

Dumb. This one (post #7) is even worse since Z100 hasn't used it in 20+ years. Means nothing to their core listener who may not have even been alive then http://boards.radio-info.com/smf/index.php/topic,122395.msg991244.html#msg991244
