AMP RADIO: Commercial Free Friday-Monday

AMP Radio is going commercial free Friday through Monday
Let's see how KIIS (known as SIIK FM) reacts to this decision. Any other Halloween specials anyone knows about this weekend?

What about club spots? They usually dominate the radio on weekends. Hmmmm, ineresting. Don't they already have commercial free Mondays every week? I've seen the AMP banner promote it on V-103's(CBS/Urban) website here in Atlanta.

Clubs, particularly those with beer and spirits co-promotion money, stay away from stations with high percentages of teens. And club buys tend to be low-rate buys, which is why they mostly run at night, and later at night, too. On the other hand, they are cash in advance customers...

And weekends, along with 7-Midnight, are very light sales times, followed by Mondays. A little inventory management, and, voilá, commercial free weekends.

If clubs that depend on alcohol sales stay away from stations with high percentages of teens (like AMP), why do alcohol companies still heavily advertise on stations like AMP?

Why has CBS promoted AMP on other stations that are way out of the L.A. market? I read the other day, they are not even in the top 20 in streaming for CBS Radio.

There are trade association self-regulations that recommend that spirits not advertise on stations with above a certain percentage of teen listeners... all the biggies like Budweiser follow those guidelines.

The clubs per se don't stay away from teen stations (althoungh it makes sense to do so since teens can not enter) . It's the liquor companies that do so, and there is a percentage of club business that is brand related, like the Captain Morgan night....

Maybe that's why? CBS wants to create AMP as an on-the-radio destination as well as an online destination.

Why wouldn't they just promote NOW FM, especially knowing that NOW and AMP have completely different playlists?
