AMP Radio Passes 955 in ratings!?

So June ratings are out and amp has taken a jump from 3.1 to 4.3! While 955 has fell from 4.2 to 3.8

I don't really like amp radio, never been much of a fan. I don't really understand what they are doing that would help them gain that much. But I don't listen to them much so maybe thats why.

The question should be: What's 9-5-5 doing wrong? Right now, instead of staying focused on their P1's, they're trying to over please their P2's and pissing off their P1's in the process. They're reacting musically to the success of 96.3 when they should have just stayed the course. Now, AMP, which has barely marginal "talent", has filled the void.

Very good explanation. I wasn't expecting AMP to gain ground like that in less than two years of existance. Yet here we are today talking about how AMP has finally gotten over 9-5-5.

I'm curious to find out how long this will last before 9-5-5 picks it back up.

Shocking numbers. CBS is such a smash in the Detroit market.

Why am I not surprised? WYCD is back on top, followed by The Ticket.....it's been like that for some months now and I am not at all shocked

955 I think is trying to take action. They have brought back their commercial free hours for a start...But Jag at night needs to step it up a little. I mean he has been bringing in some more interesting topics in recent times, but his first few weeks he was a little boring. At the Vnightclub all he said on the radio over and over again was "You need to get down here","DJ Whip is killing it","Joe jonas will be here next week".... I mean he needs to get some more people on the M.I.C. like Nick Craig & Stick.

And whats up with Joe Rosati? Half his posts on his blog are dating advice posts.

955 Really needed to keep Beau... Than the whole lineup would be almost perfect.....

I personally don't think Joe Rosati was a good choice for a CHR sation like 9-5-5. Not taking anything away from him talent-wise; it's just his style fits better on The Beat than it does here.

JAG....on the other hand....really needs to bring it everytime he signs on. He sounds boring at times and Grooves is basically killing him in that daypart. I know he's still fairly new, but in order for him to be successful, he gotta step it up. Big time.

Clear Channel is pretty much putting themselves in this situation. WNIC being hot ac, WDTW being rythymic AC and WKQI being a CHR they pretty much are cancelling themselve out. So I'd say that gives 96.3 WDVD and Amp Radio 98.7 a chance to win.

In hindsight, that's virtually three Top 40 stations in the market owned by Clear Channel. Which means all they're really doing is competing against THEMSELVES....whereas Citadel and CBS Radio doesn't share that problem because their other stations are formatted differently (ex: WDRQ being an Variety Hits format, and WYCD basically owning a monopoly as the only Country station in the market and WXYT-FM catering to the Sports fanatics).

Looks like the beat switching to the d has paid off for the Amp in the december PPMs. They beat out Channel 955 by a tenth of a share.

I hope 98.7 AMP RADIO good luck in the DETROIT radio market. Since 106.7 THE BEAT has been eliminated there is only one other Top 40 station that play rap in their music mix and that's CHANNEL 955 aka 95.5 FM WKQI.
