AMP weekends

Does AMP Radio run jockless on the weekends or do they air any programs or air shifts on the weekends? The website doesn't have anything listed on the air staff section, and when I was listening a few Saturdays ago it was in automation.

It's jockless. Which is boring because I have an iPod to listen to music... without commercials!

I wish AMP was more like 92.3 NOW NYC (don't laugh, I actually like that station.).

That's actually a really good station! Personally, I like the weekday lineup at Amp... but I don't think it would hurt to throw in overnights, weekends personalities, and some mix shows and local specialty programs to air on the weekends, too.

I've come to realize that CBS doesn't really care about AMP. All they want to do is save some extra dough and at the same time just trim numbers off of KIIS FM, as CC did to KROQ with 98-7.

They won't run that syndicated Perez Hilton show that is based in L.A., which runs on a few other CBS top 40 stations (not that I care). They will not have a mixshow that airs on Friday/Saturday nights. If you look at the playlist, they don't play "All the hits," they just spin what songs sound cool and make people move. All they care about is throwing little get together "switch parties", and give out t-shirts in many different colors.

Again, I could care less knowing that I never cared for the format flip in the first place.

You're definitely right about them not playing "all the hits." They really just a play "a few of the hits." I'm not sure why they claim to play all the hits, when their playlist has been completely "rhythmified." It seems like most rhythmic chr and top 40 stations are starting to keep tighter and tighter rotations, and rarely play songs from the past 2 to 5 years, like they used to. It's a shame.

You're right..in terms of "Rhythmic"

I think of Top 40 as more along the lines of Sirius Hits One or something like that.....that throws in stuff like Script "Breakeven", Boys Like Girls, Owl City, etc... I never hear those songs on KIIS or Amp (only on My 104.3). I think it adds to variety if they put more rock and pop based songs mixed with what they already play.

No, KIIS plays all those songs you speak of. AMP chooses not to. AMP can't be considered "Rhythmic" because, they don't play too many songs from the "rhythmic" artists themselves. For example, Power 106 plays a whole lot of LMFAO, David Guetta, etc. AMP just plays the "hits" from those artists.

KIIS and AMP are both considered "rhythmic-leaning chr/top 40" stations. Why the 2nd biggest market in the country doesn't have a straight-forward mainstream top 40 is beyond me. Z100 in New York favors all of the hits, while Now Fm's playlist tends to favor hip hop, r&b, and dance artists. While KIIS truly plays all of the hits, their playlist is heavily centered on the more rhythmic artists. I was very surprised to see Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours" on the AMP playlist this morning.
