AMP?

How was this slogan chosen? Kiss,Magic,Star all sound ok as slogans, but AMP? I know CBS has been using it for quite a while, but I can't get used to it.

Don't know exact reason but maybe
"Amp"lification, "Amp"-lifiers
I think there's an expression when you're excited you're all "Amp"ed up

The launch of Amp in LA
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KAMP-FM
>>Previously, AMP Radio was heard on KCBS-FM HD2 and also streamed online...The station had targeted teens and young audiences by playing a mix of popular child friendly artists such as Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers, and songs from the High School Musical soundtrack and Top 40 artists (Chris Brown, Paramore, Rihanna and Metro Station). With this, CBS Radio eventually looked at moving the AMP Radio format to mainstream radio because it felt that was more cost-effective than the talk format. Eventually, AMP more closely resembled a more mainstream Top 40 format and it was advertised the station on many of the company's radio station websites. Finally, it was launched on KLSX. The company stated that testing AMP Radio on HD 2 and online showed brand loyalty and the success of the format.

It also goes on to say many felt the station was launched in an attempt to go after the #1 station in town, KIIS (Kiss). Sound familiar?

I live in Providence and was shocked to hear WODS flipping. Not exactly a fan of that type of music.I am tuning into 1033 AMP RADIO quite a bit. It's different,Upbeat and gets me allergenic. I have to say I really do like it.A feeling that a few twitter followers are expressing. No annoying rap

You start sneezing uncontrollably? You break out in hives? You go into septic shock? And this is a good thing somehow?

He might want to start taking some shots for that sort of thing. :D

what are the "BPM" on these songs, they all seem very upbeat...

Amp was a show on MTV. one of their best, along with Remote Control and 120 minutes. back when "EDM" was called "Electronica"

the term "amped" is so common ...its weird that you someone wouldn't understand it. It means hyped up... there's even an energy drink called amp.
