AmpRadio105.1???

This sounds odd. CBS has registered ampradio1051.com. All Access has the juice. CBS only has two stations at 105.1. One in Orlando, and KNCI. Could they kill KNCI go up against The End? Closer on the dial, and more PPM friendly for sure. OR, move KNCI's Country format to 100.5...kill The Zone and Amp up 105.1? Or...nothing?

Well, when I checked out the Orlando stations website it looked like a more likely candidate for that move than KNCI. But then what the h*ll do I know. MRK, djj, your opinions?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm...when I checked Orlando's 105.1 website at 6:24 pm PST tonight:
http://www.mix1051.com/

I saw a banner ad atop the above homepage promoting Amp Radio 97.1!!
http://www.ampradio.com/wordpress/

On the left side o' the page at the above ampradio link, it says:
"Welcome to LA’s new hit music channel, 97.1 AMP RADIO. This was built for you, Los Angeles."

Eh?...
???

I tend to believe S5C, for I do NOT see any Amp Radio 97.1 banner on KZZO's website NOR on
KNCI's website, soooooooooooo...

MRK, or anyone, whaddya say 'bout this latest development?

P.S. - after looking at that "Mark And Mercedes" logo on KZZO...maybe it's me, but their logo
sure looks like it was somewhat kyped from the "Late Night With Conan O'Brien" TV graphic.
Anyone else notice?

i cannot see knci changing at all... look at the ratings. knci is one of the cluster's cash cows. would you change that? no effing way.

And KSFM-102.5 being the other cash cow.

I don't think Amp1051.com is anything other than a buz creator for the boards. If CBS is trying to unload Sacramento and Orlando, why bother.

Why move KNCI to another frequency, it will just cause the some of station's P1's to wander around the dial and stumble across KNTY by accident. ;) KNCI should be left alone. It's doing well and bringing in money.

BTW: 100.5 is not that much better of a signal than 105.1. It just sounds better to say they have 115,000 watts. Remember, their Height Above Sea Level and HAAT is lower than the other stations at that location.

Of course, who really knows except for the fine folks over at CBS.

exactly,
if ANYTHING, the zone will get amped, but thats not likely to happen.

the only thing i disagree with you about Michael, is the fact that the domains are being registered to create buzz on the boards. in this economy, nobody's buying a domain for the sole reason of creating buzz on an industry message board. the only logical reason for this registration is to flip the orlando station. nobody in their right mind would okay the registration of a domain if it doesn't get used... but, stranger things have happened.

You do have a point about that...

I was think more on the lines of a buzz to throw the competition off track though.

Remember KGO in San Francisco registered KGOFM.com and put up fake pictures before their "Solar Power" announcement a few months back. It created tons of speculation.

WOMX Orlando, aka Mix 105.1, has slipped in the Fall 2008 Arbs 12+ to a 2.9,
good for 13th...
BUT...being in market #34, and for sale per CBS' mandate last year, why would
they want to change formats, as intimated by MRK earlier on this thread?

Agreed, kgofm.com created speculation with the solar power hubbub...
The "kgofm" website did not make much more money for them, but I bet with
the solar power, they've saved money on the power bill...or?...

BTW, kgofm.com is still up an' atom, though re-directing to the KGO 810 site:

Plus, the 115,000 watts is directional, with the 115-KW lobe aimed at Woodland, and an 89-KW lobe aimed just East of Stockton. Someone told me that this was from the days when Family Radio owned both 106.9 in San Francisco and 100.5 in Sacramento. They had to prevent the two coverage areas from overlapping, hence there is a null towards Elk Grove. Here's the "predicted" maps from the FCC for both 100.5 and 105.1. They're not that different:

and
http://www.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/FMTV-service-area?x=FM71821.html

In a previous job I used to lease subcarrier service from 100.5 (then KQPT) and I can confirm that the actual field strength from that stick is nothing spectacular.

Yours is a lame assertion. Domain names go for about $15 a pop. Of course companies would purchase domain names to stir up buzz. Geez!

what buzz? amongst the industry? yes. amongst listeners? no. listeners don't care about a domain registration.

again, i don't mean to sound brash but that makes no sense. stations won't even spring for a spindle of blank cds anymore- something useful around the studios let alone a domain, of no use that just sits there.
