Amy B @ KSCS

Robert Bass said:
Also, most radio people don't care about the 12+ numbers. If KSCS is targeting 25 - 54, and Amy B. brings in that audience, KSCS probably won't give a dang if they slip in 12+.

R
#1- Amy B is no Howard.

#2- If Amy B is bringing in 25-54, but the rest of the station is still bringing in the 45+ audience they have now, there's a MAJOR disconnect between dayparts there. As I said earlier, she has the potential of driving off the senior citizens who listen to Dorsey, hurting the station overall...

Like I sadi, KPLX should have a feild day with this. "Yep Mr advertiser, they picked up our rejects, and don't even have her doing a local show...And have you looked at the ratings? Dorsey, 6a-10a, 15th overall, Amy 10a-3p, 8th (let's say), PM drive drops to 18th overall...Now look at OUR ratings, for our live local shows...6th overall...

now that's funny...first of all, a salesperson isn't out there doing comparison shopping with clients...if anything, they are touting their numbers and showing their strengths in hopes of getting a buy.

why so negative? wish them the best and let's see where the chips lie down the road...how can you be so sure this won't be successful? what i'm saying is i don't know if it will work, but i think it is interesting to give it a shot and why not, they've tried other things with limited success.

If you don't think a large number of salespeople in this town aren't 'going negative' on competition, you're sadly mistaken. Yes, they're touting their strengths, but just like the stations are positioning themselves, the salespeople are positioningtheir stations by attacking the vulnerabilities of the competition...
For example, if station #1 has low cume, but highTSL, if station #2 has high cume but low TSL, odds are station 2 is ripping station 1 for poor 'reach'.

And "I" can be negative because I see this as a disturbing trend. It's aznother station, supposedly a succecsful one, who is taking the easy way out and going to 'the bird'.

Less local content. One less job in town for a 'real' jock. One more daypart "generizied' because a station doesn't care enough to be live...

I have to agree with most of you but here's my thought. As I'm writing this there have been over 1000 views on the subject of Amy B being back on Dallas radio. That says to me that there is interest. For those who don't like the changes that The Wolf has made and for those that really liked Amy B, they will now at least sample KSCS. I think that makes it a good move for KSCS. Just like when Dorsey first came to KSCS, KPLX was kicking their butts, however the loss of Dorsey hurt KPLX. This move with Amy B may in some way take some numbers away from The Wolf. Yes, it's not local, yes it sucks to have a syndicated show on in a top 5 market, but I'd rather hear someone that we have at least known for sometime than have KSCS syndicate with someone out of state, out of market, and out of touch with DFW. Amy B can help KSCS simply by having her voice on the station and when there are local events, she can be there to shake hands and kiss babies and make the average listerner believe that he or she has a friend on KSCS. All of us that post here are NOT your average listener. We have a love and desire for radio much more than the average listener. Believe me when I say, the average listener will think that AMY B is back and only on KSCS.Remember radio is all smoke and mirrors and if your a good radio magician, you can make the listeners believe.
