Amy Lawrence on ESPN Radio Gamenight

It may be the most painful listen in the history of sports radio.
Are they doing American Idol or something with that show?
Someone needs to step up and destroy that format. It is weak!

Not the biggest ESPN fan but I check in occasionally and find her to be braying and uniformed which equals unlistenable.

ESPN radio in general is unlistenable. FSR is just the lesser of two evils for me. What did Amy Lawrence say? I don't mind her but I can see your point.

There is a reason why WSKO in Providence dumped her after only a few months of co-hosting their now-defunct local morning show. (WSKO-AM & FM now airs those assclowns Opie & Anthony during Morning Drive.)

It is not something that she said, it is the total sum of her parts.
She has a shrill voice when trying to make a point and spends almost all of her time reacting to others instead of ever driving the conversation herself.
I am all for women in the sports biz if they can hold their own. She seems like a cheap alternative and is definitely in line with others on that show.
It seems they are taking marginal talents from the NE and using them instead of hiring a top talent.
The reliance of these people on Red Sox Nation talk is poor and shows they don't have national appeal.

What host doesn't have a shrill voice any more?? ;D

I will say this... I don't get to listen to her a ton, but from what I've heard she has improved leaps and bounds from where she started. (She kicked off her career in Oklahoma.. unless there is another Amy Lawerence in the sportstalk world)
I don't know if she is network quality, but if its the same host... she has improved...SIGNIFICANTLY... which I guess might scare some of those who might ask just HOW bad was she?????

ESPN radio during the week is hard to listen too much les their weekend line up. I got a funny story about Amy Lawerence though. I was driving on the freeway one day with my girlfriend who knows a fair amount about sports and we were listening to ESPN Radio Gamenight during the weekend and Lawerence was on. I swear, just out of the blue my girlfriend said to me, "she doesn't know what the hell she is talking about, how is she on the air, she is yapping, copying and agreeing with what ever the guy is saying and together they aren't saying any thing."

I thought to myself, ya, I know, who changed the channel to ESPN radio? I can't stand that channel. I swear the Dan Pattrick show is like Oprah for guys and I can't stand listening to either one of them.

I remember when I first heard ESPN radio. It was on weekends in Columbus Ohio back in 1992. Maybe it was the newness I don't know but it semed like great stuff but in recent years they've come to rely on noise and cuteness over any substance. Amy is bad but she may not be the worse.

Of the three major sports networks, ESPN Radio is the one I could live without the most. I do like Colin Cowherd and Erik Cuselias (though I liked him better when he was teamed up with his brother). I also like listening to Mel Kiper Jr. and to Inside the Huddle whenever they're on.

We have a winner! Yeah, ESPN Radio is all about self promotion. I'd rather listen to Sporting News Radio and let the callers dictate the flow of the programming.
Of the 3 main national sports radio networks, I rate as follows:

3rd - ESPN. Except when Colin Cowherd or Bob Valvano are on, the rest of the regular hosts/guests are either shrill, too talkative, or boring, quite frankly. (with the exceptions of the contributions of Mel Kiper Jr., Beano Cook[still funny/lucid/informed at his age], Ron Jaworski, & Joe Morgan)

2nd - FSR(Fox Sports Radio). Good, entertaining hosts (except for JT "the brick", who tries to be like Jim Rome & won't admit to it), good, solid roster of regular contributors, & lively, interactive conversation with callers.

1st - SNR(Sporting News Radio). Everything I said about FSR, but WITHOUT "the brick"! And with Tony Bruno doing mornings, a good listen to start to the day with.

I usually listen to local they cover up ESPN radio in the daytime, but I find GameNight unlistenable, with hosts like Jeff Rickard, Freddie Coleman, Seibel, and Amy L. I like FSR for Ben Maller he is good, and Chris Landry and his great football analysis and this John Fricke guy gets on my nerves. JT the Brick well no comment there.....Sedano and Czaban come on at bad times for me to listen but when I do I enjoy there shows. I don't have a SNR station near me and have listened to a little on the net I really can't comment on them though.

JT was a former caller and Smack-off winner.

I have to disagree with you on John Fricke. I remember when he was doing local radio in San Diego. I loved listening to him then and I wish he would get a full-time gig on SNR. I'd rather have him than Chris Myers. Not that I dislike Chris. Or maybe they could give John Andrew Siciliano's time slot. I definitely agree with you on Chris Landry. He may actually be the best host/contributor on the network.

Amy Lawrence, with her annoying New England voice, sounds like Rocky the Squirrel when
he is scolding Bullwinkle. She's harder to stomach than that stupid dog on ScoobyDoo.

I listen while driving to work at 3am. Whenever they come out of Sportscenter at the top, and the announcer says, "Now filling in for Jason Smith...." I hold my breath and hope the next words aren't "Amy Lawrence."

She is horrible. She sounds like a 14 year old trying to play big time radio announcer. And it's not her voice (which is irritating), or that she's a woman. I love some of the women who appear on ESPN.

But Amy Lawrence always drops in tired, old cliche phrases (this morning she said "sink your teeth into" 3 times in the span of 2 minutes). She relies on cute, catchy remarks, rather than giving any insight or information. She thinks using the word sexy, and stretching it out for effect, is entertaining.

She ridiculed Rex Grossman for saying he doesn't know how Peyton Manning is so successful is his system because, Grossman says, "I don't sit in on their meetings." Her take? She derides Grossman by saying "He's a quarterback. Doesn't he sit in those type of meetings too?" Well, my 14 year old plays quarterback for his team, but he doesn't know what the Colts' secret is.

Amy Lawrence comes across as very amateurish. Sports radio listeners are usually well schooled. They deserve better from a network like ESPN than someone who sounds like they're doing high school radio.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Well I got a Sporting News station so I am happy that Todd Wright show is back and have learned about new shows that I really like I usually listen to Wright instead of JT and switch to Sedano when Wright is done and that David Stein show is not my cup of tea but I really was never a big Stein fan.

I like Jorge Sedano a lot, but my work schedule doesn't allow me to stay up late at night to listen. Stein was listenable to me at one point when he was on FSR, but somewhere along the way, he became boring. Todd Wright, to me, is unlistenable.
