AN 106.7 PD Adams Out

Wow
Was it not going in the direction they planned?
Was politics impossible?
Start ups are never easy. Will this be a fresh start for AN 106 or a set back?

all about revenue, more units, sponsorships, infomercials etc etc, Marshall was likely doing his best to stay loyal to the brand, all news, all the time, not sports, paid programming and the like. station has never been about ratings, beating WSB, place holder for inventory.

A lot of news/talk stations accept infomercials now. While not liking that policy I just sensed there was a lot of disagreement over the direction of where this thing is going. Did something change or did strong wills collide. While tweeking a new station comes with the territory I wonder what made it so bad that Marshall reportedly just walked out. Anyone thinking of applying for that job needs to know what the future and course of that station will be. What could have been done differently to avoid a casuality like this.

RE Informercials

See my post on a related thread; this may have been a long-standing commitment, not something the PD was responsibile for.

Also remember that adult-oriented formats tend to do poorly after PM drive and on weekends.

What would really be interesting to see would be a monthly cash statement for 106.7. The month before Cumulus took over, two months after Randy and Spiff were axed, the month before all news, and last months. I really thought they would give it 6 months if not a year before inserting infomercials during "low listener" periods. With the demise of WGST as we know it where would these shows go? Let the infomercials be out of the market for a year then really financially "stick it to them".

Most if not all of the successful All News operations have decades of "branding". The two new ones WYAY and KROI (Houston) are in sunbelt markets which are thought of as conservative talk strongholds. Maybe it has something to do with the "liberal biased media" that Hannity and Rush rant about almost daily.
