An American Revolution?

Rush: Boycott GM cars. General Motors has lots of problems, now it can add conservative talk radio to its list. Premiere Radio host Rush Limbaugh and several other talkers are calling for a boycott of GM products. "Nobody wants to support an Obama company," Limbaugh tells his audience.

Wonder how the employees of Chevy Tonawanda and American axle feel about Rush lobbying against their livelihood. I'd guess GM won't be spending money with Premiere.

If you're opposed to the bailout of GM & Chrysler, you're entitled to your opinion. We'll all entitled to our opinions in the United States. But Rush has gone off the deep end with this one. Just plain un-american to cause GM to go under and all these hard working people to lose their jobs. Of course, Rush and others who feel this way have a legal right to say un-american things. But this is just plain un-american. BTW, nobody is twisting GM and Chrysler's arms - they asked for help and agreed to the terms. I hope GM makes a comeback and is strong and healthy and their workers keep their jobs and GM's profits keep their stockholders happy. And that's american.

I don't like getting into political discussions (there never seems to be a winner). HOWEVER, in this case, as I may be opposed to the Fed "supporting" a company for survival...it has become US / WE ...the taxpayers that are now the owners. We have no choice but to hope for the best.
BTW - name one radio facility receiving any taxpayer money (sans Non-Com radio) to assist in it's survival. ???

that's all

Can't name any, but the list doesn't stop there. What about airlines? Department stores? Any huge company out there really.

Even in these times, you know who represents one of the biggest groups of advertisers on radio? CAR DEALERS, many of whom have GM lines among the brands they sell in their stores. Rush has to be either crazy or stupid to insult one of his affiliates' biggest sources of revenue.

Anyone want to guess what kind of reception WBEN's sales reps get the next time they try to renew their contracts with Billy Fucillo, whose cornerstone store on Grand Island sells Chevys?

I give you a hint---the explosion of anger will be HUUUUGGGGGGE!

You forgot Delphi-Harrison in Lockport. Delphi produces radiators and air conditioners and will rejoin the GM fold. Love or hate the fact that the federal government has chosen to subsidize the banks, insurance companies and car manufacturers, U.S. taxpayers are proxy owners of some of the biggest banks and auto companies in the world, so it's imperative that these companies succeed. Limbaugh seems to want them to fail just so he can say "I told you so and it's all Obama's fault."

WBEN and Rush just served up a fat one down the middle for WECK's local talk hosts. Brad Riter and Bill O'Loughlin should get at least a double out of it. And will sales reps from competing stations mention Limbaugh's comments about GM when selling against WBEN? General Motors has a strong presence in Western New York. Rush and WBEN by extension, don't help GM workers, dealers and salesmen any favors by saying "nobody wants to support" GM. Does Limbaugh, a multi-millionare who lives in a mansion in Florida, care what happens to the man or woman in Western New York who sells GM products, builds engines at Chevy, assembles radiators at Delphi-Harrison and forges axles at American Axle?
