An Aussie On Holiday

I have to say, I've been in LA since Saturday and I love what I'mhearing on LA radio. Big wraps for...

KYSR
KROQ
KIIS
KBIG
The Wave

One thing I have noticed is the cookie cutter "Pay Your Bills" promotions running on the Clear Channel stations. Just a little odd, I thought.

The "Pay Your Bills" promotion has run on KIIS for years, it seems like forever, hell, they may have originated it, I'm pretty sure that they did in LA at least.

There is a lot more format diversity. We have very few commercial stations, and they are extremely safe when it comes to programming. I gave up listening to local music radio and now stream US radio stations all the time.

I ran that contest on a CHR in market 13 in '76 or '77. I'm fairly sure I copied it from somewhere after reading about it in the Hamilton Report... I also ran it on (K)KHJ in '93 or '94. It's a pretty nice Christmas "present" contest for those who find "Christmas Wish" a bit too maudlin.
