An HD2 station makes the ratings without an analog translator!

nd2023

As reported by dcrtv.com, dance-formatted Mix 106.5 HD2 showed up in the Arbitron ratings. I know that they don't have an analog translator. I think web streaming was included in the HD2 listening, since it is hard to believe that at least 100 people have HD radios in Baltimore. They heavily promote the HD2 on the main station (HD1's format is CHR)

This implies several things: HD radio is gaining traction by providing a format not available on the regular FM dial, and there is demand for a dance station in Baltimore. The fan page for Mix HD2 has over 1000 fans, very impressive for an HD2 station with a niche format!

Regardless of who owns it, it's impressive that a dance formatted HD2 made the ratings, and it's the first HD2 station I know of that made the ratings.

Is that a musical "toot" or a Spike Jones style "whizzer"?

(All who came in late please Google: Spike Jones )

Actually, I'd thought online streams were regarded as separate stations for ratings purposes. Interesting, at any rate. (Monmouth-Ocean Book, here I come...aheh.)

You can elect to have them included with your OTA ratings.

I give this news three kazoo toots. Are they actually making money with it? Unless you are a noncom (nothing wrong with that) most broadcasters need to make a profit.

Their daily mixshow does have a single sponsor which is announced a few times. But I think that the ad isn't enough to pay for the IBUZ transmitter and licensing fees.

You can only elect single line reporting for web streams and the on-air signal if there is a 100.00% absolute and total simulcast.

Nearly no commercial web stream in a rated market is a 100% simulcast.

I think Mix HD2 is a 100% online simulcast since there are no commercials.

If none of the spots (another post mentions commeercials) is agency or done by an AFTRA talent, then they might qualify for single line reporting.

The spot (only one advertiser) is just the "naming rights" for the daily mixshow.
