An idea for 550 am....

Looking at WGR's night pattern, I can see why it would boom into RI at night. I hear it at home in Oreland through WFIL's slop.

When 550 was oldies as WICE, it was a good station with guys like Joe Thomas, Chuck Stevens, Vin E. McCoy, etc. Does anybody remember the rest of the line-up? I'm drawing a blank.

The oldies version of WICE 550 went on the air in the Fall of 1985. The on-air line up consisted of "Cousin" Steve Bianchi, Jim Raposa, John Grube, Vin E. McCoy, Joe Thomas and Kevin O'Conner. Chuck Stevens did a weekend show. A few years later Ed Fairbanks and his wife Jean did mornings followed by Jim Raposa middays, Vin E. McCoy afternoons and Chuck Wilson doing his sports show from 6p to 8p.

I remember that Fairbanks, Raposa and McCoy eventually ended up working on air at various stations in Boston and Chuck Wilson went on to WPRO the ESPN Radio. Jim Raposa was the PD at WICE. Raposa and McCoy, extremely talented in their own right, were downright hilarious when they got together on air.

Surprised Bill Blount hasn't gone after 550; he could move WARV's programming there. It appears he 's trying to buy the 1550 outside Hartford....
