An idea

Almost like the "we play everything" approach. There WAS a time when top 40
stations would play a wide spectrum of music that made the pop charts but eventually there was a point where they specialized and played either
rock-ish, or r&b-ish.

I don't listen to CHR much but I recently taped stations like WXXX in Burl. VT
(for a tape trader); most of the songs were rap-ish but some more rock-ish.
But are most stations split down the middle, with virtually no rock-ish hits
on r&b/dance stations, and vice versa?

Are there people who like "both"? Sure, but maybe they figure they'd rather
go for a cohesive audience who _only likes one or the other_. That's what the consulants figure, I guess.

I've had this idea for YEARS. "CHR-X". Basically a "new jack".

Look at any person's presets, 16-34...there is usually at least one rock station, one CHR station, and one rap station. Play the best of all of them...you are like MTV on the radio.

It's going to happen one day. Now all I have to do is win MegaMillions and make it happen :)

Kiss 108. Rock, pop, and hip-hop all in one.
______________

Rap Metal? (corrected)

Didn't we already have rap metal? For rock listeners there's a portion that will go right for the tuner when anything rap plays.

Mixing genres won't increase P1s the way larger playlists will.
Edited by Smoke on 09/24/05 03:41 AM.
