An Infomercial Channel with.....less Infomercials!!

Spectrum Cable's "As Seen On TV" channel, at some point this month began programming 12 hours of Classic TV Shows with short 2-4 minute spots for products instead of the 30 minute pitches. Could be an economic decision on the advertisers part. Four shows rotate in these 12-hour blocks; Bonanza, The Lucy Show, The Andy Griffith Show, and The Beverly Hillbillies. Not sure if these are just the public domain episodes or perhaps Spectrum made some deal with CBS/Viacom. Have only seen Bonanza, and the Original theme and credits are in tact.

Could it be the 30 minute infomercial format is slowly coming to an end???

I've seen this on Charter Cable in Jackson, TN and what I saw were PD episodes.

I'd love to see that happen but I'm not holding my breath. If it's still the same "As seen on TV" junk that is sold on other channels it's only a slight improvement.

Interesting to know that Bonanza, although originally seen on NBC, is currently (since 2007) distributed by CBS TV Pictures, which was once the re-run division of Viacom. So yes, that package of re-runs sound like something they got from CTP.

If 30 minute infomercials go away, there will be no other revenue source for these channels, so I doubt that will happen. What's more likely is the numbers are so bad that even the infomercial companies don't want it. Not a good sign for the future of this channel.

ICTV on Dish was showing 5 hours per day of Forensic Files recently. But now Forensic Files seems to be gone off the ICTV schedule? Is it? What was the idea of an infomercial channel showing 5 hours per day of Forensic Files? Who would ICTV have got the rights off?

Are these the first infomercial channels to air proper 'programs'? Could As Seen On TV develop into a proper TV channel airing shows with short 2-4 minute spots for products? Maybe acquire more cheap shows? I suppose it draws more of an audience to the 'channel'.
I don't think ICTV still airs Forensic Files now does it? It did for a few months. Why stop I wonder?

Seen that as well it's channel 184 on Charter Spectrum personally don't like channels that only air paid programming have some shows program it don't care if the As Seen On TV are the ad's thou.

Would ICTV not have been better adding a few more cheap but popular crime focused series like Forensic Files to the schedule? They could have developed themselves into a proper 'true crime' channel like ID/C&I (Along with their infomercials during breaks and blocks during the day) Would this not attract more viewers/customers? They didn't have the right to Forensic Files for very long as it's now dropped.
