An Irish hoax?

On the Irish program aired Sunday from 10am until noon on WHK, the host was doing what seemed like "shout-outs" to various people. I'm guessing he was relating what callers and/or emailers were asking him to mention. One cheery mention went out to Owen and Martin Kilbane. The Owen and Martin Kilbane I'm familiar with were notorious criminals in Cleveland history. They were most notably implicated in the hitman murder of court judge Robert Steele's wife back around 1968. I think one of them identified the hitman for the judge. I wonder if that was somebody playing a practical joke of sorts, hoping that nobody connected with the show would know who Owen and Martin Kilbane were.

I don't think it is a hoax. The Kilbane brothers are both in the Grafton Correctional Institution and it isn't that long ago since Triv had one of them on by phone...OK, it is several years, but Gerry Quinn has been doing radio in the area for over 30 years and may well know the Kilbanes.

If you go to Triv's page on the WTAM website, he actually has a petition to free the Kilbane brothers.

It's entirely possible that Quinn may know them as well.
