An oldie fan - a newbie to the board

Lurked a while, finally logged on. Been reading several posts regarding Rock Roll & Remember. Granted, Mr. Clark has been mailing it in for a while as far as his hosting the show. It's not high energy, but neither am I on Sunday morning. I think any other time slot would be horrible. However, I enjoy listening to the program because he plays some tunes not normally in anyone's oldies rotation. Here's hoping 97.1 will dig out some more forgotten 45's on weekends.

Truckin' Tom caused me to turn off 96.3 weeknights. That kind of program would have wowed me as a teenager (the nightime screamin' dude stuff), but it's a bit too much for me to take nowadays. Dick Bartley's show is worse than Dick Clark's IMO because he doesn't play much if anything outside the normal oldie rotation.

Mike Harvey's oldies show is the greatest I've heard. I hope 97.1 brings him back on Saturday night. Just my $.02.

I mentioned somewhere in an earlier post that I felt WMAK was slipping as soon as they bumped Supergold from Saturdays. I'd listened to Supergold for years and I had noticed one thing about the show I didn't like. They had started playing more ads and less music. It is all about the $$ though! Reminds me of "The Bill Miller Show" on WAMB. Every other song he tries to sell us a new record compilation!

supergold

Not true. Super Gold actually cut back (reduced) commercials when clear channel demanded syndicators follow their lead with less is more. Now, that being said, it doesn't stop non-cc stations from running a heavier LOCAL spot load during the show, but at that point it's out of Super gold's hands.

Hey Bob, Theres two of us. well maybe 1.25 I really listen to WAMB about a quarter of the time.

Okay, I have to admit I listen to WAMB. I like their "Beautiful Music In The Night", which they run from 10pm-6am. I also like Teddy Bart's Roundtable. That being said, the rest of their programming has got to go. I tuned in Saturday afternoon and heard some show featuring music fom the 1920's. That was a little too much for me.

Yeah they have got to update. If they moved it along about 2 or 3 decades (to the '50s or '60s) they'd have more of a potential audience that is still living.

I do listen to "Music in the Night" when I can't sleep, but that's about all I can take of WAMB, and this is coming from someone who loves the adult standards format.
