AN OLDIE ON CBS-FM???

I just heard "Great Balls of Fire" by Jerry Lee Lewis. If I am correct is that not circa 1957? Maybe they are expanding their playlist.
Has anyone else heard any other "oldies"?

A few days ago I heard the FULL version of the Isley Bros "Shout"; a few minutes ago they played The Twist ... I've heard they played Jailhouse Rock and Rock Around the Clock. So yes they are sprinkling in a few appropriate nuggets that work for the "sound" of the station.

Hopefully they are going to return to the golden oldies format they once were so popular for!

Sorry to disappoint you, but no way, Jose. If that was their plan, they'd have signed back on that way last week. The "oldies" format as it was throughout the late 80s and 90s, is gone from FM stations in competitive markets where performing 25-54 is crucial to their survival.

Yeah, we're playing great ball these days, which is somewhat astounding since we're still 2 key guys short in the bullpen (Zumaya and Rodney) and went without one starter until 3 weeks ago (Kenny Rogers), ace Jeremy Bonderman for a few weeks in May and starter Nate Robertson for most of a month recently.

Adding Sheffield to the lineup makes a HUGE difference, more than I'd have guessed.

;D

The choice of "Hall Of Fame" style oldies is the same burnt out stuff. Guys, be true to your school...instead of "Jailhouse Rock", play the NY stuff: Duprees, Capris, Crests, Five Satins in it's place. WOGL plays the local Philly hits on Cameo-Parkway. My thought is to play the Old Town, Coed, Roulette acts, not the cliche'/generic '50's. Be local.

And be gone again in two years.

Obviously, playing much '50s/Doo Wop is not going to happen, at least not if you want CBS-FM to stick around for awhile.
