Below is a listing of the analog shutoff times (dates) for the Boston (Manchester, NH) marketplace. Does anyone have information on the analog shutoff times for other New England markets that have yet to switch?

I don't have the exact time of day, but the Hartford/New Haven stations which didn't switch off on February 17th will switch off on June 12th. So far, the only stations which have gone all digital already:

WUVN-DT (UNI) Hartford - digital channel 46, analog channel 18 is gone.
WHPX-DT (ION) New London - digital channel 26, analog channel 26 is gone, digital was on channel 34.

Both WMFP (analog 62) and WUNI (analog 27) are now silent.

Both WHDH (analog 7) and WLVI (analog 56) will be the "last men out" of analog at midnight in Boston, on the 12th of June. This is rather historical in the fact that WHDH (formerly WNAC and WNEV) was Boston's second commercial television in June of 1948 (WBZ-TV was the first). WLVI was Boston's first UHF station back in 1953. (Channel 56 went silent in 1956 until December 1966) Of course WHDH will return to Channel 7 a few minutes after the analog is shutdown. I wonder if there is going to be an overlap with both Channels 7 and 42 operating at the same time briefly. Channel 56 (formerly WTAO-TV , WXHR-TV and WKBG-TV) will be saying "sayonara" after 42 years of continuous operation since 1966. If only someone could have a little "bye, bye" for Channel 56 with old logos and such. (Unlikely.....) In any case. A part of TV history will be closing. Have the recorders handy!
 
WGBX, WFXT, WMFP, WWDP and WBPX are off.
According to a source I have, WBPX is just about completley out of the Pru as their lease expires at the end of the month.
WWDP is gone, the entire analog site is empty now.
WMFP is located behind the offices at their downtown loaction and the transmitter wont be moving soon.
WFXT's analog cabinets are now part of the new higher power digital transmitter.
WGBX is off.

And the nightlighters in Boston are WGBH 2, WBZ 4, and WCVB 5.
 
30 days after shut down. Unless Mr Obama decides they need to stay on longer.
 
Does anyone have a list of the TV stations in New England that after the June 12th transition will make changes to their transmitter antena height, power and channel numbers?

As far as I've read, from this and the boards at avsforum.com, I know of the following:

In Boston: WYDN-DT 47 is increasing power and height
WHDH-DT 42 changes power and returns to ch.7

In Providence: WPRI-DT 13 and co-owned WNAC-DT 12 increases power to 30kw
WJAR-DT 51 increases power to 974kw and moves its DTV antenna to the top of its tower (it's now side mounted and directional away from the northeast) - and WLNE-DT 49 shares the same antenna so I would assume they get an increase in height too.

In Manchester: WMUR-DT 59 moves to ch.9 at 6kw.


Any other changes?

WYDN-DT has all ready increased height (it moved to a new tower). The increase in power is still in application phase.

This will happen on 06/12/09.

WBZ-TV 30 has a CP to go to 915kW from 825kW.
WBPX-DT 32 has a APP to go to 1000kW from a different tower.
WWDP-DT 10's got a CP for 11.9kW

WPRI-DT has a application to go to 30kW. WNAC-DT has a permit to do so. (WNAC-DT currently operates at 26kW)
And for the record, WNAC is not co-owned, just operates under a LMA.

You would assume incorrectly. Only WJAR has the application to go to the top mount antenna. Which means WLNE stays on the side mounted.

Elsewhere around Mass...

WUTF-DT 23 goes to 27 from their tower on Parmenter Road. (06/12/09)
WDPX-DT 40 on Cape cod has a permit power increase from 300kW to 500kW.
WWLP-DT 11 in Springfield has a permit to increase from 10kW to 15.8kW.

In Connecticut.
WFSB-DT applies to go non directional. Same power and height.
WTXX-DT 12 goes back to 20. (06/12/09) Application to increase the power on 20 from 52kW to 470kW. (Sometime there-after)
WEDN-DT 9 increases power.
WEDW-DT 49 prosposes a change (I believe just a nominal power increase)
WSAH-DT 42 applies to move to the Empire State Bldg in NYC.
WHPX-DT 32 goes back to 26. @ 475kW. (06/12/09)


Trip can answer the rest better, I am sure. But thats a list for starters.

From the 61 tower in Farmington?
 
WTXX-DT (CW) channel 20 will be coming from the top of the WTIC tower. I think they'll be one of the three sticks atop in the candleabra.

As for WHPX-DT (ION) channel 26 of New London, they had moved from channel 34 in February. they were never on channel 32.

WHPX has already moved.

Other than that, list looks good. Only thing for people to keep in mind is that anything that's not a permit may not necessarily be approved (the WSAH application, specifically, is worth watching), and that anything that is approved and therefore has a permit may not necessarily occur right on June 12. Many of them will have three years after the June 12 date to build out their "maximized" facilities.

If there's anything specific that anyone wants to know, I can probably help out.

32 was WEDH's old digital assignment. Sorry for the mental fart on that one.

The Chase tower in Farmington will have WTIC-DT, WTXX-DT and WEDH-DT all from antennas on top.

The adjacent WVIT tower will have WVIT-DT side mounted.


In Maine, WVII, WMTW, WAGM, WCBB, WMEM, WPME, will all return to their original channel assignment. (WPME I believe has all ready done this.)

In Vermont, WCAX is now on 22, their post transition channel, everyone else stays on their digital channel.

New Hampshire, WENH has gone back to 11 digitally.
 
I think WAGM and WMTW are the only ones on that list that haven't already gone back to their analog channel numbers.

Does that mean that I'll be able to receive them better where I am in Natick? I can hardly receive them at all now, though I was able to receive WNAC before they moved to VHF back in February. Maybe the antenna that I'm using just doesn't do a good job with digital VHF.
 
Some Boston stations will be participating in the national DTV transition test day Thursday, May 21.

WBZ 7:25am-7:30am, 12:25pm-12:30pm, 6:25pm-6:30pm
WCVB 7:25am-7:30am, 12:25pm-12:30pm, 6:25pm-6:30pm
WSBK 7:25am-7:30am, 12:25pm-12:30pm, 6:25pm-6:30pm

I lost both of those in Framingham as well. Interestingly, I haven't had any problems with WJAR-DT 51, which I know a lot of people in the market have lost. WLNE-DT 49, which I could never pick up in analog very well, is the only other Providence DTV that comes in consistantly. I'm just using a pretty basic set of rabbit ears.
