Analog TV Reception in Southington, Connecticut

I just bought a Triquest Model 8020 VHF/UHF indoor antenna at Big Lot for $2.99 I bought it for a back up just in case the cable goes out. Here's what I was able to pick up with it: (reception may very depending on which way I turn the antenna). I live in Southington, CT behind the abandoned Shaw's Supermarket and Abandoned Pratt & Whitney Factory.

3 WFSB HARTFORD CBS

8 WTNH NEW HAVEN ABC

18 WUVN HARTFORD UNIVISION

20 WTXX WATERBURY CW

22 WWLP SPRINGFIELD NBC

24 WEDH HARTFORD PBS/CPTV

26 WHPX NEW LONDON "i'

30 WVIT NEW BRITAIN NBC

38 WHCT-LP HARTFORD AZTECA AMERCIA

40 WGGB SPRINGFIELD ABC/AMERICA'S STORE

48 WRNT-LP HARTFORD (AFFILIATED WITH IND. NEWS NET AND VISION ENTERNTAINMENT SPORTS NETWORK - VESN)

57 WGBY SPRINGFIELD PBS

59 WCTX NEW HAVEN MNT

61 WTIC HARTFORD FOX

I was surprsied I could pick up WHCT-LP and WRNT-LP. I was equally surprised that I couldn't pick up WSAH/43, WUTH-CA/47 (Telefutura), WRDM-LP/50 (Telemundo/JTV), and Smithtown, LI's WFTY/67 (Telefutura). When I used to live in Bristol I could usally recieve both Long Island Stations - WLNY (55 now HDTV only) and WFTY (67, previously WHSI).

Here in New Britain's south end, I get a crappy signal of channels 18 and 24, since I'm at the bottom of Walnut Hill, which is in the same direction as Avon Mountain. Analog 3 is decent at best (again, the Avon Mountain issue). 20, 26 and 59 are marginal but watchable. I can't get any usuable signal with 22, 40 or 57 from Springfield (although I used to get 22 clear and a decent 40 when I lived in a different part of NB in 1991). I don't get the low-power stations from Avon Mountain (well duh!) I used to get a VERY weak signal from 55 and still get a slight bit from 67. I don't get anything with channel 65 from New Haven and nearly nothing from 49 in Bridgeport. Surprisingly, I get a halfway decent signal from channel 53 of Norwich, depending on the antenna's position (rabbit ears).

In Avon (on a ridge in West Avon) add:

2-WCBS-picture no sound
5-WCVB if antenna is east
5-WNYW-if antenna is west
6-WRGB-picture no sound

If you get up to Avon Mountain the east picks up Boston quite well..the west facing side apparently gets good pickups of several of the NYC stations.
