Anchorwoman already canceled (1 episode)

Well, you see, it's post 9 11. The miscommunication started on an airplane.
They were afraid to put the words "Shoot a pilot" in a sentance while flying, so the show aired instead. ;D

What was the CBS reality show that lasted one episode as well? The reality show was based in Texas.

It joins the "You're In The Picture", "Turn On", "the 80's Glenn Frey show" and others I may have missed that only lasted one episode club.

Guess it wasn't meant for shows that are based in Texas to do well nowadays. Tyler, Texas must be crying right now since the show was based at a TV station in Tyler.

Wasn't that Glenn Frey show called "South of Sunset," or something similar?

"Co-ed Fever" from 1979 is also in the one-timer club.

I wonder how the Fox Television Network managed to get permission from the
CBS affiliate there to do this in the beginning?

Wow! That explains their "one-shot" thing. I think the viewers in East Texas can sleep well now assuredly that the sleaziness that went on with Anchorwoman has tanked at the bottom of the television ocean floor of dead and unwatchable shows.

The result: KLTV and KETK are gloating ear to ear as we speak! ;D

It was "The Will!"

It was cancelled in January 2005.

It's a shame how network TV can easily cancel a program nowadays if they don't do well in one showing.

To me NBC became really good in the 1980's and 1990's when they didn't cancel programs off the bat and let it have a chance to develop.

Oh, how I miss those days. :-\

Don't know about 'permission' as such, but CBS19 removed the 'CBS' and Eye logo from its set, flags, building, vans etc during the filming and just went with KYTX19. I believe the CBS logos have all gone back up again.

And the Tyler/Longview Fox affiliate wasn't going to air Anchorwoman, giving it to 19 to air.

There was also The Rich List that only aired once on Fox earlier this year. With the way that they yanked it so fast after low ratings I can't help but wonder if the team that was winning on there won a big wad of money and Fox pulled it even faster to get out of paying them.

Actually, ultraconservative Tyler considered the whole affair a black eye for their area, and CBS19 is an even bigger laughingstock than it was before. Here's a few threads from the Texas board:

FOX says Unaired episodes of "Anchorwoman" will be available on Fox's website www.fox.com through Fox on Demand

Now that is shooting yourself in the foot right there... nobody demanded it in the first place! ;D

Re: One and doners... have we already removed Emily's Reasons Why Not from our memory banks of useless information?

Re: Shows set in Texas destined to fail... I dunno, I hear that show "Dallas" did pretty well...

Actually, Tyler is my hometown. I, for one, am glad it's over. I thought it made the folks at CBS19 look trashy for trying to boost their ratings like that.

I no longer live there, but I'm sure that there's a good number of folks that are glad it got sacked.

Since this tanked, wonder what wild scheme Phil Hurley will come up with to boost ratings?

He might try building a news product with some degree of credibility, but doing so may prove impossible after tne "Anchorwoman" abortion. Besides, it's easier to let someone else do all the work, as with Fox.

Hurley thought he and CBS 19 were headed for guaranteed stardom. Face it, Phil, you blew it when you bought Fox's bill of goods.

I remember when Family Guy came back on Fox after being canceled for three years, and they made a joke about coming back on Fox. Then Peter named a very long list of shows that Fox cancel during those three short years.

Fox seems to have a very bad attention span and rather canned a show before it has any chance of building up an audience. Maybe the other major networks are just as worse, but I don't watch them.

Yes! It was the return episode on May 1, 2005. Peter rallied off a list of about 30 shows, ending with, of course, "Greg The Bunny". Any true fan of the show will get that immediately!

The best thing Phil can do for 19, is to get out of TV all together. He seems like a nice enough fellow. I met him once at a Gregg County Chamber Mixer, when I was still at KFXK, and he was at KETK. However, for someone to be in Tyler that long, and have no understanding of the market, just baffles me.

I feel sorry for people like Dan Delgado (the News Director), Annalisa Petralia (who was the Producer/Anchor/Reporter, who disagreed with the decision to bring Jones in), amongst others, because this will follow them for quite awhile. If they try to move on, this might be a red flag for stations that they apply to.

Couldn't agree more. Makes you wonder if Doc was the only intelligent one in the house by not wanting to be associated with it as well as moving on to other things after this mess.
