Ancient History/KGU Question

I noticed the other day in looking at old NARBA assignments that KGU was listed as Limited by WJR back to 1940. Is this true? And if so, why? When KGU went on the air there were plenty of fulltime frequencies available, why would they have chosen a daytime only one? Or was it just a technical limitation, not enforced. Sign on at sunrise Detroit, sign off at sunset Honolulu, it doesn't sound sensible.

And why, when Hawai'i has never been a part of North America, was it even considered reasonable to include it under NARBA?

And was there ever a KGU-TV?

Though KGU was the NBC radio affiliate for the islands, it never was the call letters for any tv stations in the islands. However, KULA, KHON, KHVH and KGMB all were radio stations and at one time or the other were local tv station call letters.

The Dominican Republic and Cuba and Jamaica are not part of North America, but were in the treaty, at least at times.

I think the "North America" part was just a way of doing a treaty between the US, Mexico, Canada and some of their neighbors. They needed a name, and that distinguished it from Europe or somewhere else.
