From the LA ratings:

"Oldies station KRTH-FM (101.1) remained in fourth, while its audience share grew from 3.9% to 4.1%."

In the meantime, go to CruisinFM.com...and they even sponsor monthly Classic Car Shows if your in the Katy Area !
;)

Can't get it in the car --- sorry! Wait a couple of years, then I'll be listening in the car when the technology catches up with demand.

Think out of the box... ;) Does your car have an MP3 adapter / CD player-Burner? Have an IPOD ? Ask a "techie".
It can be done!

Even Victoria has a good oldies channel.

Austin has no oldies channel any more either.

If only we had a station like KRTH in Houston! I listen to it all the time online.

I always listen to them if I get tired of KNX while I'm in L.A. I wish a Houston station would have a playlist like that. :( Is KONO-FM still good these days?

Really good. The 101.1 in Houston blocks them, and the AM is really hard to pull in next to a local Spanish language station. But they are receivable on the West side of Houston, and really a welcome format now that Houston doesn't have oldies. I can't help bu think maybe KONO could put more signal out - with 5 kW you would think they would get in here better than they do ---

I personally like KITE 93.3 in Victoria over KONO They play more of the 50's and 60's than KONO.

I realized the FM signal gets overtaken by KLOL driving on I-10 to and from SA. KEYH blocks the AM from it's Sugar Land Airport perch here in Katy, but it does get listenable going to Cypress especially early morning in winter. Hopefully they still pump out good music. I haven't listened in a while because it's not in the iTunes radio selection like CBS radio and it seems Cox doesn't put much effort into IT since it tried to download a file. A few years ago it was using RealPlayer in 32 kb/s stereo.

BTW anyone know why is the COL on the FM is in Helotes? That could be one reason the signal doesn't reach as far east unlike if it was in the Elmendorf antenna farm or on top of the Tower of the Americas. I guess the AM is used to reach the east side of SA (and parts of Houston able to get a listenable signal at least during the day).

I'll be listening to KRTH and KNX/KFWB (maybe less KFWB after the format change to News/Talk Sept. 8) when technology makes it possible. The only way I can pull it off right now is in a recently late-model car with an audio input and connect the cable to my iPhone running the CBS radio app (and I won't get a phone until the AT&T monopoly is finally lifted).

During the KPFT pledge drive, one of the hosts mentioned that he was listening to KPFT in New Jersey through a similar setup. I instantly wondered why he wasn't showing his support of fellow Pacifica station WBAI if he was in Northern NJ or the Philadelphia affiliate in South Jersey?

I listen to oldies from Houston all the time in my car. Radio Bop. All you need for streaming audio in your car is an iPhone, iTouch, or similar device with a radio app (many of which are free). Then play through your car stereo using either an auxiliary jack or FM modulator. Works great....as long as you have a 3G signal. And I'd expect Houston and suburbs to have 100% 3G coverage.

It STILL makes no sense to me. I thought for sure that some smart programming director (ok - oxymoron for some - not my friend Ed - ) would figure out how to sell this to the "executives" and we would now have an oldies station in Houston. Heck. Hurricanes, no oldies station, I think I'll move!
